GTD (Game Time Decision)

Joel Embiid is suffering from a stomach ailment, and was listed as questionable in Game 5 tonight, and later upgraded to game-time decision. So we probably will not know if he plays or not before the Fantasy Postseason "My Daily Starters" closes today.

So what to do when that happens. I say do not risk it. If you pick Embiid without knowing if he's playing or not carries the risk of him eventually not playing and you get 0 fantasy points for this gameday. Being behind by a full 20 FPS points is bad enough.

I recommend picking somewhere else. Portland is down 1-3 and Wemby is back in this series from his concussion protocol time off. Alupin's pick Scoot Henderson is a good 30 FPS potential. His and Embiid's difference may be around 10 or more, but this is better than a potential zero.

But if you have no high PRA player in Portland available anymore (like me), feel free to pick VJ or PG13 (PG24?). VJ has double-double potential for those extra points in FPS. My pick goes to Paul George -- it is a gamble as I am wishing for a 30 point game from him if Embiid is out. If Embiid plays, a 20+ PRA from Paul is not bad at all. Btw if you still have Maxey, he is the obvious choice.

The Celtics are moving on to the next round -- in that I do not doubt at all. In fact if I lose the chance to pick Embiid, I'm okay with that. But just in case Embiid plays and they win this Game 5, I hope they'll have clearer injury status on Embiid moving forward.
