PRABS Challenge: Elimination Time

Back again with this segment. As a reminder, I'll pick 2 players from each game on opposing teams & predict which one will have the higher PRABS (points-rebounds-assists-blocks-steals) in their matchup. It must be someone who had less PRABS than their adversary in the previous game.

NYK/DET: I'm gonna take some Jalen on Jalen action & say that Jalen Brunson (the king of the clutch) (26 PRABS last game) will score higher than Jalen Duren (31 PRABS last game). Duren is capable of high rebounds and some defensive stats, but I think Brunson goes off tonight, period.

DEN/LAC: I believe James Harden (26 PRABS last game) will outscore Jamal Murray (59 PRABS last game). Wow, 59. That was surely "The Jamal Murray Game" and very likely the highest we'll see from him all playoffs. Harden was not good last game and now the Clips have their backs against the wall. He'll step up for sure. Also, I have him picked today so wishful thinking.

*Stay Tuned for the RESULTS posted after the games.

----------------------------------

NYK/DET: Brunson went off as expected with 51 PRABS conquering Duren's 30 PRABS. (CORRECT)

DEN/LAC: Harden did great with 45 PRABS while Jamal Murray still did well but came up less at 37 PRABS (CORRECT)

Current PRABS Challenge Record: (4-1)

  1. For Game 6, I'm going with Ivica Zubac. He's been great in this series, and I think he matches up well with Denver. He's consistently good so far and feels like a good pick at home. I could see Harden going off, but I like the floor Zubac brings.

For tomorrow, I have Amen Thompson. He has been getting a lot of shot attempts in the series, and trust that more than VanVleet. Freddy has been great as of late but he's shooting an unsustainable high percentage.

    1. Zubac was a bit rough for ya. I’m glad I went Harden. Completely agree about Amen vs Fred for the exact reasons and I just don’t trust Jalen Green on the road.

I have been avoiding picking from this series until now, same as a lot of people I guess. So the Kawhi pick won't be very original. Also going with Amen Thompson tomorrow. I am afraid of picking Van Vleet after two great scoring games. He might come back to earth

  3. I got Vanvleet. Thompson is a good pick but my chips are on the floor general.

Next is Powell, as I already picked Harden and The Klaw. Zubac is an alternative, but his numbers are inconsistent.

    1. You’re going Powell in Game 7? I just may hedge it with Murray cuz I don’t wanna be down 3 Clippers and there’s a chance they get it done in Denver. If Malone was still coaching I’d say no way, but coaching matters and this other guy has 2 weeks coaching experience vs a seasoned Ty Lue

    2. Dunno.. I have heard so many times in the past where a friend tells me Ty will carry the team and out-coach the other, but everytime it has always been a loss. Don't get me wrong --- I like Ty. But he's a greater motivator than an X-O guy.

Going into the series I liked the Clippers' chances. Powell is one of the reasons. Not sure why he was not nominated for Most Improved beside teammate Zubac, but Ty placed Powell as a true third scorer. Plays are called for Powell. He's been consistent the whole season.

But these Nuggets have found their footing. Expecting homecourt advantage.

    3. You were so right. The Clippers crumbled. Should have gone with my gut. I had Nuggs all the way.

  5. Wouldn't have imagined that the FPS 3rd place last week is gonna be topped, but today I jumped back and ahead to 2nd place off VanVleet's 43.

But still, I expect to drop dramatically in the 2nd round since I picked from both the Clippers and Nuggets (all top 3 players in that pool).

And if Rockets win Game 7, that will spell disaster. Coz I don't plan on betting against the Warriors.
