How's everybody feeling after that second round?
If you have a full set of players remaining at this stage of the game, congratulations! You probably also have zero points, because you would need to have made no picks up to this point to avoid a mistake (outside of being able to predict the future). I can't think of anyone who expected BOTH the Pacers and the Knicks to advance. Maybe one, but even that would have been a wild prediction.
Here's where I stand after round 2, with players already used listed:
New York Knicks:
Used on Google Drive: Josh Hart, Karl-Anthony Towns
Used on Fantasy Postseason: Josh Hart, Mikal Bridges
Indiana Pacers
Used on Google Drive: Pascal Siakam, Myles Turner
Used on Fantasy Postseason: Myles Turner, Andrew Nembhard, Pascal Siakam
Oklahoma City Thunder
Full roster available
Minnesota Timberwolves
Full roster available
All things considered, not too bad. I didn't flip on the Cavs or the Celtics until their respective series were 3-1, which meant I dipped more into the Pacers and Knicks than desired, probably 1-2 more picks from the two than the majority of people did. I counter-balanced that with getting the West correct and leaving it fully intact.
For Round 3, my goal is:
a) To predict the West correct and save nearly all remaining players from one team for the Finals.
b) To pick through the remaining best players from the Knicks and Pacers, potentially saving one or two for the Finals depending on how long the series goes.
I've got OKC vs Indiana as my Finals, which means I'll plan to save all my Thunder. I'll give myself a few games before fully committing to that plan, in case Minnesota wins me over early in the series.
Game 1 picks:
Naz Reid - He likes to show up early in series, going to take a chance on him
OG Anunoby - I want to save Brunson for more meaningful games, so I'll start off with OG
What does your strategy look like? How many players did you use up in Round 2?
145 pts behind FPS public league's leader.
ReplyDeleteHave everyone intact in the conference finals except Towns and Holmgrem. Quite surprised I only used two coz it felt like I used four with all those toad wins and upsets.
Pacers look like the more complete team and with a Carlisle. But Knicks have more heart. I am biased towards the Knicks as that is my father's team. Will be hard to beat the Pacers but I'm rooting for the Knicks in that series.
Ant foretold to his team that they will return to this point and that they will be more prepared. Ant seem like he has more endurance this year. But my chips are on the Thunder. They were tested in that Nuggets series, while the Wolves I think had it easy because of a Curry-less Warriors and a defense-less Lakers. Thunder gets this series.
Knicks-Thunder? I guess the Thunder finally does it!
But would it be super-crazy if the Knicks win it all?!
kind of wait and see who wins .I have more Wolves left so ill start with Randle and hope they lose if they win i go back to ok State with Holhmgren next or Hartentstien,.Im from NY so i got pick Knicks but if they lose ill start picking Only knick i took was OG only Pacer Haliburtan..So Randle then Siakum next 2 games
ReplyDeleteI also have full roster available in the West, but already picked Hart, Bridges, Brunson and Siakam in the East. I am 47 points behind the leader in GD, 104 in FP.
ReplyDeleteI also think the Pacers are the better and best coached team, but the Knicks have better players and intensity on defense. Which will prevail in a Conference Finals? This late in the Playoffs most times it is the team that defends better. We will see. I hope the Knicks fans finally have a chance to celebrate something, even if it's a Conference title.
I also think the Thunder are favorite, but I am intrigued to see how they match up against the Wolves. I will start by picking McDaniels, as I think he might be the player with more open shots in Game1. And I will start picking Nembhard in Game1, just because I have more different decent options in the Pacers, I'll try to keep KAT and OG for the Finals, unless it looks like the Pacers will win
My situation and strategy is in line with Tangent's except that I have the Knicks prevailing so I'll be beginning with selecting Pacers & Wolves respectively.
ReplyDeleteI have everyone available in the west too. I used Hali, Brunson and KAT in the east.
ReplyDeleteI can't really differentiate the Pacers and the Knicks, so I'll go with the market odds to decide who to pick in G1. It seems NYK are the favorites, so I'm going with Siakam in G1.
In west, I'm picking Randle in G1, as I think OKC are going to the finals. I really want the TWolves to win the series, not because I'm a fan of them, but because it's really not enjoyable for me to watch OKC constantly fouling and get away with it.
Penciled Ant in for G1.
ReplyDeleteMathurin on the next day.
I can't believe how lucky was Haliburton with that last shot...But anyway, what a way to waste a 16 point lead in the last quarter. We looked like the Celtics...
ReplyDeleteAm I crazy if I think McBride should have stayed on the court instead of Brunson, until at least the last two minutes? His 5 fouls limited him defensely too much, and they were playing well without him on that stretch
His number of fouls wouldn't matter much anyways. He is not known for his defense.
DeleteGood job by Nem getting the Pacers back into it. And good job by Hali for that buzzer-beating almost-a-trey lucky bounce.
A road win means we got a series!
"Since 1996-97, teams that have trailed by 7+ in the final 50 seconds of the fourth quarter or OT in the playoffs are 4-1,702.
ReplyDeletePacers have 3 of those wins, and they're all this year".
This is actually an insane stat. I'm 35 and I've been watching NBA since early 2000s, I haven't seen a more resilient team than this Pacers team. They just don't quit man.
Anyways, for the fantasy, I have Ant-man tonight. He must have a bounce back game today if they want any shot at this series.
I will pick a Knicks player tomorrow, and it will probably be Josh Hart, best available Knick I have.
Got McDaniels and Bridges lined-up 🤞
ReplyDeleteReid and Anunoby for me
DeleteI was leaning Pacers in the series, had OG Anunoby (GD) and Mikal Bridges (FP). I had Anunoby picked in FP for game 2 but when the Knicks went way ahead I switched to Myles Turner or Andrew Nembhard. When the Pacers came back I switched back to Anunoby.
ReplyDeletehopefully OG gives me something decent today
