BOLD PREDICTIONS: Triple Double Alert

It's time for the 6th annual Bold Predictions segment! I now sit at (1-41) lifetime after getting none of them right last year. As always, I'll continue to make these BOLD as hell (many with multiple things that need to happen), but I have a good feeling about this playoffs. In fact, I bet I'm nailing one of these two below. It's time to get BOLD baby!

DET/NYK: Cade Cunningham will record a triple double, but the Pistons will lose again. He was solid in Game 1 with 21/6/12, but I bet he ups his rebounds in what I'm hoping will be a competitive game. The Knicks have showed that they simply have too much experience though. They're not going to lose a home game in this series.

LAC/DEN: Nikola Jokic will post a triple double & the Nuggest will win. The Joker went 29/9/12 in Game 1 & it's actually shocking that he didn't grab his 10th rebound as that game went to OT. I believe that the Clippers needed that game. I guess we'll see how poised they really are, but my feelings are that the Nuggets feel very lucky to have escaped that and that they'll play much better in this game to ensure it doesn't go down to the wire.

*Stay Tuned for the RESULTS posted after the games.

----------------------------------

RESULTS:

DET/NYK: Well, I was right about Cade grabbing more rebounds. However, he didn't pass the ball much at all as he took on the bulk of the scoring. He finished with a double double AND the Pistons won. (WRONG)

LAC/DEN: The Jokic grabs the triple double no problem this game. Inexplicably, Aaron Gordon misses a dunk that could have put them up by 1 with 2 minutes left and the Clippers then got a bucket on the other end. Denver never got the lead back. I'm convinced that moron cost me this win! Great series though. (WRONG)

Current Bold Predictions Record: (0-2)

  1. Had Cade and Banchero for first 2 days. Banchero was great. Cade was OK enough.

I'm gonna pick Kawhi tomorrow. Duren and Tobias are suboptimal picks imo, and I want to pick Kawhi asap, as we all know the injury risk.

    1. Those two picks worked out well for you I’d say!

  2. I got Harden next. I know Kahwi is the safer pick because of injury concerns. But I just feel Harden might play disinterested later when a series is further out of reach.

And then Luka is my Tuesday's pick. It will probably just me picking him, lol! But my reasoning remains to be that Game 1 left calf issue that the Lakers seem to be keeping under wraps. Still love you, man! Looking forward to what you do in the next ten years there.

And then my Wednesday's pick is Tyler Herro. And I know he's a better pick at home. But I'm betting on the bounceback off a 38.9 shooting.

    1. He had quad issue, not calf. And that quad issue occured after colliding with Randle, so I'm not worried about that as it is contact related. It generally hurts the moment it occurs, but that's all.

I don't understand all that doom and gloom approach about the Lakers too. Both Luka and Lebron are accustomed to losing G1. They'll adjust, and I don't think the TWolves will hit their wide open threes at 71% clip again. By the way, that was the best percentage any NBA team had on their wide open threes all season. Either way, I don't think the Lakers will bring overhelp to the ball handler, especially from Naz Reid and Jaden Mcdaniels, too. I totally expect the Lakers win G2, and this will be a loooong series.

    2. I would not be surprised if the Lakers straight up demolish them in Game 2. Next thing you know they’ll then win Game 3 on the road and be up 2-1.

    3. I'm joining Taking on the Luka pick train. It will be a long series, but I would like the chance to pick both LeBron and Luka, should the Wolves win. I'll get Luka now, and grab LeBron towards the end as needed.

    4. Man, I think you’ll have two chances. Even if the wolves find themselves in a close out position. There’s no way LeBron and Luka are losing that close out game. If the Wolves have multiple shots at it then maybe. Or maybe I just have too much faith in these Lakers.

  3. Saved Cade for tonight since there’s only two games but tempted to play either Harden or Kawhi

    1. Nah Cade is the correct pick if you have him. Clippers will extend that series at least a bit so you’ll have more time. Plus they’re still not guaranteed to lose.

  4. With no Stewart today, Duren should get solid minutes regardless of how much he may struggle. Still too risky though for me as someone who has Cade avail to pick today.

They already did it for 3 quarters in the first game. Only the Knicks defense that allowed them to run changed things. But when the Knicks can't run the offense is so poor without any ball movement. Just trusting your stars to create in one on one isn't enough. That's why I don't like Thibs

    2. Yeah but it's weird, the Pistons barely had any assists as a team. They scored via isolation and in every other bizarre manner that wasn't good ball movement. Somehow they still won. I dunno, but I still don't trust it. I give them no chance of winning this series. No way Towns is this bad again all series.

Yeah, I still think the Knicks will advance, because the Pistons are a similar kind of team, and the Knicks have more talented players. But for example, if you want Towns to be better you need to give him more balls inside, especially when he is defended by smaller defenders. And if there's help against him he is capable of finding the open man. All the balls he touched in the 2nd half were behind the 3 point line. He started the game with some good plays inside, but suddenly they never tried that again

    1. I hate Kawhi so much; I cannot even begin to describe my rage toward him. He knows I hate him & purposely had 7 TO in Game 1 when I chose him and then became the cyborg killer the very next game.
