BOLD PREDICTIONS: Big Games From Trailing Superstars

Coming in cold at 0-2, but let's see if the 2nd Bold Predictions win in history & first of the year happens today!

Mil/Mia: Giannis racks up a triple double in his return from injury & Bucks win the game. He's only ever had 2 triple-doubles in playoff games & is obviously still ailing from a bad fall in Game 1. Also, the Bucks haven't looked great through the majority of this series. Do the Heat just have their number? I think the Bucks still have a very good chance to win this series and that it starts with Giannis's big game tonight.

Mem/Lal: Ja Morant will score 40+ but the Lakers will win. If only I wrote this up prior to last game, LOL. I'm calling for the exact same result as last game here. While it's rare for lightning to strike twice, Dillon Brooks made a big mistake calling Lebron "old", along with everything else he said, and of course the now infamous "nut tap". Although the Grizz had the better record, I never have felt they'd win this series & I think today's game will be a nail in their coffin despite Ja's greatness.

----------------------------------

RESULTS:

MIL/MIA:
Giannis got the triple-double finishing with 26/10/13 & it looked like this prediction was coming true as the Bucks led the whole way until Playoff Jimmy was just too much and he put on a show for the ages to give the Heat the victory. Just WILD.

MEM/LAL: Well, Ja struggled mightily. He even re-injured his wrist at one point on a pretty bad fall. You could tell it really affected him this game. Much like the 1st prediction, I got half of this one right as the Lakers won the game, but Ja only ended up with 19 points & the game even went to OT!

Current Bold Predictions Record: (0-4)

  1. (Hesitantly) picking Morant as well.

If Griz wins G4, that means they’ve learned to tune all that outside noise out. And then we’re effed 😅

    1. I figure IF the Grizz win today they’ll need another huge game from Morant and then I just live with having picked him on a productive day. Lakers can still win series even if the Grizz tie it up; I’d still give them the edge even without home court

  2. I hope you are right about Morant, as he gets my pick. But I would be happy with 30+ score. Usually teams adjust between games to avoid what the rival did best last game, we will see how the Lakers handle it.

I also think the Bucks will win, though as Knicks possible rival I'd prefer the Heat to remember old rivalry from the Ewing-Mourning era

    1. damn, I warned about Wednesday being a difficult pick, but I never thought about the Bucks being involved. Now the Grizzlies, Cavs and Bucks face elimination on the same day, and Warriors were so close to be in the same situation

    2. Now we have 4 games on Wednesday and it would be surprising to have any games on Thursday. Really strange schedule for the rest of the week if they don't change it

  3. I picked butler since I am not sure where the mem/Lal series is going

    1. Butler with some great performances thus far, but I'm happy to have not picked any Heat players to this point with them up 3-1

  4. Butler wow!
If you picked him this game, even if the Heat advance, his PRA is worth it (worth two picks).
    Man, Bucks are in trouble.
Giannis in Game 5. Lock. It. In.

    1. Ya that's true I am thinking of picking Mitchell in hopes bucks at least in 1

  5. With the Heat going up 3-1 this puts the Bucks and Cavs staring elimination on Wednesday meaning Donovan Mitchell or Jrue Holiday will be lost if both get eliminated by game 6. Even more painful there will probably be an empty day on Thursday as Atlanta, Minnesota and LAC are all unlikely to win tonight.

    1. Jrue Holiday is pretty skippable. I think you'll be alright. Mitchell is a tougher loss though.
