(Not)Guaranteed: Bounce back!

Welcome to second edition of Guarantees. This time there will be some Guarantees for next 4 days in the playoffs. Hopefully they will be more guaranteed as from first three days I had 5/9 predicted right, which is not bad, but could have been better. Let's get into it!

Tuesday Guarantees

Guarantee #13: Fouling in lost! I guarantee Mavs (if I have to pick, I'd go with Luka) will get technical foul & Clippers will win Game 2 by at least 7 points. [Not correct, Mavs won and are 2-0!]

Guarantee #14: Bounce back! I guarantee Jayson Tatum will score 30+ points & 4+ made 3's. [Not correct, it was bad pick]

Guarantee #15: Lakers also will bounce back! I guarantee Davis & LeBron duo will score over 50 points combine in Lakers' win. [Correct, they scored 55 points]

Wednesday Guarantees

Guarantee #16: In trouble even with a triple-double! I guarantee Westbrook will get triple-double and Wizards are going to lose against Sixers. [Not correct, he had 6 rebounds]

Guarantee #17: It's raining outside! I guarantee that in at least one of three matches we will see both teams making 12+ 3-pointers. [Correct, Knicks and Hawks both made 12 3's, so it's lucky, but correct]

Thursday Guarantees

Guarantee #18: Free throws are not easy! I guarantee Giannis and LeBron will both shot under 70% from free throw line this day. [Not correct, but it's interesting that this is because of Giannis as he made 5/7 (71,4%), LeBron made 2/3 (66,7%) and they combined made 7/10, which is exactly 70%]

Friday Guarantees

Guarantee #19: Young monster! I guarantee Trae Young will have at least 25 points & 10 assists in Hawks' win. [Not correct, Young had 21&14]

Guarantee #20: Blowouts day! I guarantee at least two of three games will end with double-digit difference between winner and loser. [Correct, although 10 and 11 points differences are not typical blowouts I expected]

Feel free to discuss not only my guarantees, but also games, players and fantasy implications. And whenever you read it, have a nice day!

  1. I hope you are right about #14. In fact this is my bounce-back week, as I am expecting three in a row in DTTF with Tatum, Randle and Butler. In FP I still have Beal, so he gets my pick for wednesday. I agree with #13, #15, #16, #17, #19 and #20. Not bad. But I think LeBron will be over 70% FT at home

    1. Nice, similar to me as I plan to pick Tatum, Westbrook (in FP where I didn't take him)/Randle and Butler probably. I want to save Beal for 2-game Monday, but probably most people will take someone from Memphis there (I took JV already).

So you think every prediction besides #18 become true - well, I would take that 7/8 result happily ;) I feel like 5 or 6 is more probable, but we will see ;)

    2. Yeah, I think most of them are quite realistic, I wouldn't be very surprised if they come true. And #14 I just said I hope you are right, I don't want to curse it (fingers crossed)

We will see if Luka has his female referee to foul in love, or foul in loss xD But Clippers should play better tonight, and frustration about referee calls during Playoffs loss are fairly common. Technichal fouls are more about referee patience than anything else. And we could have some fights as we saw in the Suns-Lakers game, so technichals are not that hard to see in a Playoff game ;)

#17 is the one where I have more doubts, but I think the Knicks-Hawks game could save the bet (at least as a Knicks fan I hope so, because I think the Hawks will score 12+ with Trae, Bogdanovic, Huerter, Gallinari, Lou W...). Knicks will need to score from outside, or Hawks defense will close the paint to limit Randle

    3. Yes, I also hope so - it isn't so bold like Bold Predictions are, so there is a chance ;)

Nice that you see this reference :D I'm trying to make it more interesting with that ;) and bad refereeing was seen in Den-Por game, they didn't control the game and even Joker got technical...

#17 is tricky, but today Denver and Portland made it ;) I thought about Memphis & Utah doing it, but Memphis has to take more 3's than they did in G1 and we will see if it becomes true in at least one of those 3 games ;)

    4. My bold predictions were absolute curses, LOL. I hope that turns around. And I hope you're right about #14 & #16 as those are my next picks in FPS. Since I already took Westy on the spreadsheet I'll be swapping in Beal there instead.

    5. Jerry, I feel like you cursed it with this comment xD we all should have taken Kemba instead... but I forgot how funny are bad picks as you can laugh at yourself and there is no pressure for next picks ;)

Joking aside, I'm happy for Mavs despite already taking Luka and only Lakers prediction was right for today (which I wish was only one to be false), but that's because of Chuck as he guaranteed Suns' win :P

    6. I feel so bad for Chris Paul & the Suns. If only he hadn't gotten injured...

  2. Good read Maciej, agree w/ most of them.

Picking the right player today isn't easy in my case. I want to save my only remaining "must pick" Celtics player (Kemba, and I'm not 100% sure he's a must pick actually) for Friday, when I don't want to touch the other 2 series that day just yet. I predict both NYK-ATL and LAC-DAL will be even at 1-1 till then. I don't want to touch DAL-LAC today, obviously. That leaves me with only Phonix-Lakers game. I still think Lakers is a huge favorite to win the series, but I can't deny that LeBron's 1st game performance made me worried a little bit. Still, he's LBJ, and I can't see he's losing in the first round.

As for picking a Suns player, it cannot be CP3 in this game, I want to see the implications of his shoulder injury. It will most probably limit his production I guess. Ayton was great, but I don't trust him and I don't think he's a must pick, so I'm going with Booker today.

    1. Thanks :)

If you already took Tatum, it would not be a good idea to pick Kemba today considering Friday games. Booker looks like solid pick for today, but we will see if he can repeat his great performance from G1. I want to play safe this series as of course Lakers are still favorites, but they didn't play well and I want to see them in playoff mode or just sadly see CP3 playing bad because of injury and it could be just enough for Lakers to win series.

    2. i think suns can beat lakers But cant go wrong with Booker

      Delete
    3. I'm worried about Booker tonight. Thankful I already picked him. Lakers love to adjust & with CP3 hurting (regardless of not being on the injury report) they'll be targeting Booker big time with double teams & traps

      Delete
    4. Well, it wasn't as good as G1, but it could be a lot worse if he had not salvaged his PRA with 10/10 FT in last 66 seconds of the game. I'm fairly happy with my pick here.

    5. yeah, he shot a ton of free throws!

    2. thanks me and my friends m=lay in a money league we all put in 50 winner take all Last year I won 800 In first now But its early.Im trying to stick with my plan of taking from teams i think will lose the series and starting with their best player,Had Tatum Westbrook Joker and Leonard.Leonard was a great pick for me.I got Beal tonight then Butler and maybe George friday

  4. Wow 14 PRA for Tatum. A complete disaster. Even worse than my Butler pick yesterday. The pitfalls are real! The blow-outs are upon us!

  5. I havent read this prior to the Mavs L2 win. But if I did, I would have said, maybe not 7 points :P

And, I’m happy we stole 2 games in LA.

Anyone brave enough to pick PG in G3 and line-up Kawhi for G4 just in case?

    1. I'm really happy for Mavs - they really said before playoffs that they play for championship which is great mentality ! And Clippers really wanted to avoid Lakers in 2nd round, so they have to show now they can win 4 of 5 next games (3 on the road), which looks really hard.

Maybe Kawhi/PG for Game 3 is not a bad choice as Friday games are BKN-BOS (maybe another blowout this time probably with Kemba having <20 FP) and ATL-NYK, which could be tied after Game 2.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, need to go one of Kawhi/PG13 on friday. I can't see them winning 4 of the 5 remaining games. Kudos to those who took the risk and pick one of them tonight.

      Delete
    3. i took Tatum Im going to have to keep eye on smart and kemba.I considered Kemba but hes alaways been inconsistant and it may be a blow out.George is going to have to be aggressive and hoping for 40 points or more.I already took Leonard last night

      Delete
    4. tatum i had first game a lot of people in my league picked him yesterday Sucks though because nobody can predict that .Celtics are done

      Delete
    5. Randle another good pick if knicks lose

      Delete
    6. I'm not picking a Clipper on Friday I don't think, but man props for taking Leonard yesterday! He was big in a loss.

      Delete
    7. In G1-2, Kawhi is assigned to KP and not Luka. Clearly that is not enough. Good chance they’ll not be stubborn to do the same thing (lunacy), and try to put Kawhi on Luka.

That would mean more effort on Kawhi and hence lower PRA.

PG is the pick for G3.
