Series Reports After Game 2

Let's take a moment today to look at where each series is heading into the start of Game 3, and how urgent it is for you to start picking players from the series.

Toronto leads Brooklyn 2-0

Urgency Level: High

Toronto is looking really good to win this series, and that means you might have limited time to get the Brooklyn picks in. If you haven't picked Caris LaVert yet, you will want to plan to pick him in the next two days. Jarrett Allen would also be a strong pick in the next two days if you've already picked LaVert. Note that Joe Harris has left the bubble and will not play the next two games.

Boston leads Philadelphia 2-0

Urgency Level: High

Under normal circumstances, Boston going up 2-0 would not be as concerning due to Philadelphia having yet to play a home game. But there are no home games in this series, which makes coming back from down 2-0 that much harder. Joel Embiid is a must pick player if you have not done so yet, along with Tobias Harris as a strong pick if you've already picked Embiid.

Denver and Utah tied 1-1

Urgency Level: Low

This series is extremely close, and both teams have just one must-pick player in Mitchell and Jokic. This series is ideal to wait out and should be avoided at all costs.

LA Clippers and Dallas tied 1-1

Urgency Level: Medium

If you think the Clippers are going to win this series, there is a bit more to think about as you want to get both Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis picked before it is too late. However, Dallas very easy could be up 2-0 if not for some questionable refereeing. This is definitely not a game to pick from for today, but one to keep an eye on for Game 4 consideration. This could very easily be one of the most exciting and long series of the first round.

Miami leads Indiana 2-0

Urgency Level: Medium

Miami has looked like the better team so far in this series. The only reason this series is not a high level of urgency is due to Indiana's lack of high impact fantasy scorers. Picking a Pacer is a good call for Game 3, but you can also wait for Game 4 to make a pick if you think they can still come back. Victor Oladipo, TJ Warren, and Malcolm Brogdon would all make strong picks from Indiana, but none stand out as a must-pick like a Caris LaVert or a Joel Embiid.

Houston leads Oklahoma City 2-0

Urgency Level: Medium

Like Indiana, OKC has looked outmatched in their series but also lack huge impact fantasy scorers to be worries about. Picking one Chris Paul or Shai Gilges-Alexander would be a good move, but can also be saved for Game 4.

Milwaukee and Orlando tied 1-1

Urgency Level: Medium

Orlando surprised Milwaukee in Game 1, but were defeated badly in Game 2. Expect Milwaukee to continue winning big and take Orlando out sooner rather than later. Make sure you don't wait too long on picking Vucevic if you haven't picked him already.

LA Lakers and Portland tied 1-1

Urgency Level: High

The Lakers won big on Thursday and Damian Lillard is dealing with a dislocated finger. This series has completely swung to the Lakers favour, You might not want to pick from it for Game 3, but don't wait too long on picking from this series and the Orlando one and being stuck on deciding between Vucevic and Lillard on an elimination game. Lillard's finger is highly concerning, and so is McCollum's back. Nurkic is worth considering for a pick, but there might be too many better options to pick first.

  1. All of this analysis is spot on. I'm not picking any more Nets (besides LeVert) unless there's a serious lack of picks on any given day, which I doubt will happen given the Nets will likely be one of the first teams eliminated. I just don't think it's necessary to pick more from them with all the other options still available on losing teams.

    1. Jarrett Allen is tempting. Even today with 0 FGA he put up 24 PRA.

    2. Still feels like Allen could be a trap. His ceiling just isn't high enough for me.

  2. Good analysis as usual ;) I don't want to correct knowing that my English is not perfect, but it's LeVert, not LaVert ;)

And I have a question to Google Drive League - Brogdon had 31 yesterday (and many players have that results), but me and one player above have him for 25 in this league - should I change it by myself or inform you always with situation like this?

    1. Whoops! That makes sense he is LeVert instead of LaVert. More masculin haha.

Inform us is the best call. Likely something was missed when entering it, but having the commissioners aware of it is always best. I'll make the fix.

  3. Great recap, Tangent!

Got LeVert for 24 FP. Not great but -10 can be recovered.

    Got Nurkic tomorrow.

    Good luck Mavs!

    1. Tough break for Doncic & the Mavs. Hopefully Nurkic does well for you. I do believe the Blazers are done for. I felt like they needed to go up 2-0 in order to steal this series.

    2. this makes the G1 ejection of KP more critical.

now pressure is on the Mavs
