Currently 0-4 moving into my second Bold Prediction segment here. I'll just be focusing on the two upcoming Game 7s so let's see if I can't get one right!
Jazz/Nuggets: Mitchell will score under 35 & the Jazz will win the game. This is bold because he's averaging 39 points a game & they've been needing his offense. Also, Utah was technically the underdog coming in so predicting a Jazz win is also bold of me.
Rockets/Thunder: Harden & Westbrook will combine for 60 points or more & the Rockets will win by 7 or more points. This is bold because the Thunder have done a great job of slowing down Harden in the series & Westbrook has looked absolutely awful in his two games back.

RESULTS:
DEN/UTA: I came one missed 3-pointer away from getting this one right. Mitchell had a poor game, scoring just 22 points & the Nuggets managed to squeak away with the 2-point win.
HOU/OKC: Harden stunk it up and cost me all sorts of money in FanDuel. Not to mention I changed my pick to him in all leagues. He & Russ combined for only 37 points & they somehow also squeaked away with a 2-point win.

That is bold ;) I'm going with Mitchell & Harden in Fantasy as I didn't take any of their teammates and it's game 7, so it's time for them ;) my bold prediction: Thunder & Nuggets win (which is not good for most fantasy teams) & Harden drops 40+ points (he is not known for being great in elimination games).
ReplyDeleteMitchell & Gallo for me. I’m all-in on the Rockets advancing & want to save Harden. But then again, the Rockets prob get beat in the next round so do I really need to save him that badly?
DeleteI also have Mitchell and Gallo, I need the Rockets to advance. Anyway if I picked Harden and the Thunder win I would not have many good weapons from OKC. And I do believe we need Harden in the next round, as there's not many reliable Rockets to pick

ReplyDeleteI think we can safely pick from either team in these Game 7s. By the time these series are complete, both of the East series will already be at Game 3. Unless you think one of these teams are going to the West Finals, you can just pick from them with very little drawback.
ReplyDeleteFor today, I have Donovan Mitchell. Very little justification needed, here's hoping his epic showdown with Jamal Murray continues today.
For tomorrow, I have James Harden. I see no reason to risk it just to pick from the likes of Gallanari and Schroeder. I don't expect they will make it past the Lakers anyways. The showdown for LA seems like destiny in the making, and Disneyworld is a place where dreams come true.
I prefer to have all the Rockets available and hope that they will advance, as I think their games will be on the same day as the Heat-Bucks series which is difficult to predict. I don't mind as much having picked Mitchell and several Nuggets, as there will be a few Raptors to pick on the same day

Yeah, my remaining players for OKC are pretty much similar PRA as the 4th and 5th picks on the Rockets. Shouldn't make a big difference unless Houston goes to the West finals, so might as well grab Harden now.

ReplyDeleteAh, the dreaded 1-3 comeback. Bites me every time. I picked Jokic and Murray in both games and got a sup-par Mitchell in google and made the wrong choice between Gobert and Conley in FP. Picked Conley who should have been a guaranteed 30 at least for 19, and Gobert grabs 12 rebounds in the fourth quarter alone on the way to a 19/18.
Just how does Steeltownchamps do it? Started way back with Mitchell´s 73 on day one, had the best pick of the day four times in the first six days and every single time after the break. That´s good picking.

DeleteThat were some crazy games last night. Miami clings to the win and is up 2-0 against the top seed (as is Boston against the reigning champs, four games in the Eastern semifinals and the the numbers 1 and 2 have still to win a single game), and the Rockets barely survive a nailbiter.
Harden did what he often does in these kind of games (elimination games, g7), he didn´t have his best night. Gambled on that and picked Covington, and he got 4 more PRA. I wasted Westbrook, but that was a good pick. Only Dort would have been better, but I don´t see any scenario in which I would have come to that conclusion ;)
Okay, round 1 is over, the East has already two games in round 2, we have clear-cut favorites, so one can start in the East for the next round. Picking from Toronto and Milwaukee for the next two games at least, and then going to the West when we have any idea where these matchups are heading (both to Los Angeles, probably).
Right now I am wondering if the Eastern Conference can set up the Conference Finals with only 25 games in 6 series. It is certainly not impossible.
And yeah, what's up with Steeltownchamps? Did it again with Lowry earlier tonight? Is this legit picking? That damn lucky that many times?!? I need that guy to recommend my FanDuel lineups...

Reverse combo would have given me 92 (loss of 37) with Mitchell G6 alone getting 55
The 16 from Lillard (when he got hurt) was brutal too
My picks started strong but I’m starting to get the unlucky 1 vs the other picks now as well. Drives me crazy!
