OVER OR UNDER: Countdown To The Finals!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Life has been pretty chaotic! Since my last blog, the Warriors have asserted their Durant-less dominance & well, we finally have a compelling series in the conference finals w/ the Raptors knotting things up against the Bucks. I went 2-1-1 in my first "Over or Under" column so let's see how I fair in this one!

Giannis has been underwhelming the past two games & that simply won't be the case a third time. Also, Milwaukee's bench was not good at all last game & I expect a bounce-back. So for Game 5, I start with the statement of Milwaukee wins by 10. I'll take the under, but still a Milwaukee win. The rest of the games in this series should be close now that both teams have figured out how to battle with each other appropriately.

Back to the Greek Freak. Let's say he'll have a 30/15 game. I'm taking the over on both! More than 30 points w/ more than 15 rebounds on the horizon. It's time for him to prove himself on the big stage & carry this Bucks team!

So onto Toronto's end. Danny Green has been a ghost this series scoring 8 points or less in every game & only 7 combined points the past two games. He'll wake up to the tune of 14 points & three 3 pointers made. I'll take the over! If Toronto stands a chance to win, they're need a bit more offense from Danny Green & here's to hoping they get it!

Each team has scored at least 100 points in each of the four games. They'll score a combined 210 points or more in Game 5. I'll take the under! I think the Bucks will turn on the defense in Game 5 & it's likely one of the teams will land below 100. Again, I expect the game to be close so who knows what'll happen. As always, I'll edit this post with results after tomorrow's game. Enjoy!

------------------------------------------------------------

Well,  I went 1-3 on these w/ my only victory being the two teams combining for less than 210 points. They combined for 204 & special kudos that I predicted one team would come in below 100 for the first time this series as the Bucks pulled out only 99. However, I was not so fortunate with my other predictions...

What happened to Milwaukee? Dropping 3 straight for the first time all year? Middleton with 6 points scored?? 6 points? That combined with 21 for VanVleet on Raptors made all the difference in this game. VanVleet made more field goals than Middleton had points. That's just ridiculous. So the Bucks LOST this game by 6. Giannis had less than 30 (24) and way too few rebounds (only 6). And Danny Green?? Well, he was still a ghost as the Raptors ran (appropriately) with VanVleet.

Listen, I'm no Raptors hater. I like them just fine & I wouldn't be rooting for the Bucks except for these reasons A: I believe the Bucks have a better chance of beating the Warriors B: My picking strategy would leave me pretty screwed if Toronto advanced

That all said, I don't believe the Bucks will lose 4 straight, therefore forcing a Game 7 & therefore winning Game 7 with their home court advantage as Leonard already pulled off the miracle Game 7 dance lance round.

  1. Giannis has shown signs early G4 that he’s back. He’ll get his 30

    G5: Ibaka
    G6: Green

  2. I am only taking the over with Giannis. I think the rest will be under.

Brook Lopez is my pick today, as Raptors defense will close Giannis inside. Bucks will need to make more threes to win. As I predicted it will be a close series, glad to have enough Warriors still available. Lowry or Anteto for game6

  3. I'm picking Nikola Mirotic tonight. Seems like he's been solid these playoffs. I'm continuing my strategy of picking from the home team each game. I've got Lowry or Giannis for Game 6, depending on who is down 3-2 in the series.

    1. Jason your strategy is killing it is all I know. I think I’ve done well but you’ve done better. I’ll also got Lopez tonight like Maccabi. Hope he does well! If Bucks win then its Leonard time for me the next game.

    2. I was going to pick Brook, but I changed my mind to Mirotic. Both are strong picks. If the Bucks make the Finals, I'll have Brogdon and Lopez left and maybe Giannis depending on if this goes 7. If the Raptors make the Finals, I'll have Ibaka and one of Norm/Freddy VV and maybe Lowry depending on if this goes 7. I like how this is looking. No matter what I've set, with Klay and Steph in the Finals and maybe Durant and Cousins if healthy.

    3. I have Brogdon tonight since Mirotic in moving back to the bench.

    4. I’ve got Middleton, Freak, Bledsoe, Brogdon, Kawhi, Danny Green, VanVleet, Powell, Steph, Iggy, Draymond & of course Durant/Cousins. And I’m not picking Giannis tonight in Game 6 as I still believe the Bucks will win the series.

  4. Raptors are now going home with a 3-2 lead after being down 0-2. What looked nearly certain for the Bucks after 2 games and still strong after 3 games is suddenly a role reversal which forces me to pick the Freak for G6 but probably (almost) everyone will do the same.

    1. Yeah, this is really looking like Raptors have found the answer. And Bucks are not adjusting.

      G6: Giannis

USA-Canada Finals. Bring it on :P

  6. Danny Green was a ghost for me in the last game of the 2014 NBA Finals giving me only 4 PAR, usually I'd forget that if it wasn't the last game for a year. I never thought somebody would do even worse (to where you couldn't do worse) in G5 of the 2015 NBA Finals.

  7. Well this was probably the case weeks ago but I can confirm it by now; after having a strong year (which was going well until the end of the conference finals) last year the bad cursed aceee06 is back, having slipped to 22nd/25 active users on GD and the last two picks have gone -20 from the game before I picked them!
Jason meanwhile got a 2 in G5 and still didn't get a red because another pick got 1 with Danny Green who infamously gave me a horrible score in the last game of the 2014 playoffs so I don't trust him. Jason is still 28 ahead of 2nd place and 133 above me! Like I said before once the deficit is 100+ it's insurmountable. He could probably skip 4 days and although some people close to the top would jump him I wouldn't afterall I gained a mere 10 in G5 with Ibaka's 12 and it was an even worse pick if he's on the advancing team.

  8. I've got Giannis tonight. Go Raptors!

    1. Wow, never got to pick Giannis. Unreal. I honestly cannot believe they lost 4 times in a row. Watch the Raps now get swept by the Warriors. I certainly hope not, but I thought MIL would make for a much better challenge to them.

    2. They should take advantage of Durant’s absence early on. Get a clamp on Curry, and get a 2-1 before KD steps in.

  10. Sitting good right now with a combined 196 points scored these past 5 days. Now moving up near the rank top 100.

For the finals, I have Kawhi, Curry, Klay, Iggy, Looney, Ibaka, VanVleet and possibly Durant/Cousins if healthy to play.

    2. Thanks Taong! I need to joined Ken’s league next years postseason with the multipliers. Makes the game fun and can pick players who can score in the teens during rounds 2-4.

  11. Here’s hoping that a ragtag team of Looney, Bell, FVV, Powell and the 2 injured stars are good enough to stay up there in FP. Dont think there are many Kawhis or Siakams left to pick though.

  12. Not a good playoff-run for me this season, neither in GD nor in FP. I make a point never to pick the same player in both games, so I had to chose the Greek Freak in only one game (GD) and let him go in FP, as the Bucks threw away a big lead in the 3rd.

Highlights of these Playoffs have been Rodney Hood (who I managed to pick in his two single-digit-games in round 3, not an easy task) or the whopping 1 from Kanter right before his 20 in the final game.

What I do not like are these surprisingly good games from the roleplayers. Brook Lopez had a great game (29/11) and followed with a 6/4. Meyers Leonard has a decent game, I skip him, he goes off like nobody´s business, and everybody else seems to have sensed it.

In both games (GD and FP) I cleaned the second- and third-best options in the East. Started on the Bucks, picked the Raptors, and it didn´t even get that much points. I managed to find Siakam´s second-worst game, the same goes for Lowry, who always screws me over in DTTF-games ;)

Long story short, I am rightly behind in both games and I have left for the Finals:
    Curry, Green, Kawhi in GD
    Klay, Marc Gasol in FP
everybody else (except for Siakam, Lowry and Iguodala) in both games

So, when, if at all, will Durant and/or Cousins play again?

We are Samson, Dirk is hair. Lose him and we’re hopeless =P

  13. I got Kawhi for G1 with no KD guarding him plus the 4 days off. I wonder if the Warriors players will feel rust with the long 7 days off?
