FP Fantasy Scoring

I think this should have been addressed earlier, but better late than never :P

Fantasy Postseason - League Settings (60719)

Fantasy Scoring
Per Point: 1.0
Per Rebound: 1.0
Per Assist: 1.0
Per Block: 1.0
Per Steal: 1.0
Per Turnover: -1.0
30 Points: 5.0
Double Double: 3.0
Triple Double: 8.0

We've all been familiar with PRABS with last year's Drive & Slam, so we need not dive deep into that. But what is new to some of us who do not play regular season fantasy basketball, are these:

Turnover. Players prone to turnovers, especially some point guards, have little bit less value than usual. We all know that 5 fantasy points can be the difference between a great pick and an average one and a poor one. In picking a point guard, it might be good to look at the opposing player on the floor. A defensive-minded opponent will definitely contribute to more turnovers. One-dimensional ones (All O, no D) are the best opponents.

30 points. The playoffs are about defense. Low-scoring games and longer possessions are the norm. And thus it is unfair to expect a regular-season 30-point scorer to do it in the playoffs. This is where extra reading and watching player interviews come in place. By what you've read and seen, do you think a certain player is motivated to do more next game? 30 means 35 in FP.

Double double. Triple double. While double-doubles are quite easy to predict with rebound-heavy players, triple-doubles are harder to pin. I look at the playoffs and I see only LeBron James and of course record-holder Russell Westbrook. An additional 8 points is great for your fantasy scoring.

Westbrook got 88 fantasy points (88!) in Game 2. Wow! I don't see any pick besting that. But I still hope this Game 3 playing at home and down 0-2 are motivations enough for him to do something special. Less turnovers. 30+ points. Triple-double. Let's go! :)

UPDATE: Sticking with Dennis Schröder for Saturday. 2% owned. Cold.

UPDATE 2: Switching from Isaiah Thomas (who finally have a W) to Jeff Teague of the 0-3 Pacers. Teague as an unrestricted free agent soon doesn't hurt ;) I may be missing some chance to pick stars from the other series, but a 30+ from Teague ain't bad.

I hope he will get the triple double soon, so he can start shooting 17 times a quarter xD I bet he likes me as much as I like him, because he uses to permorm his worst game when I pick him. I hope this time will be different, but all of you who will pick Westbrook are warned ;-)

  2. I've also got Westbrook tonight, because at this stage you have to do it. Down 0-2, this was the game I always planned to pick Westbrook. I can only hope he produces a massive game!

    1. I see 25% ownership for Westbrook today. That's almost a hundred of us. Red-hot pick.

(Btw, Isaiah is at 20% today)

    2. 57% had Westbrook on Google Drive to the Finals. Huge amount.

  3. Also got Westbrook. One of the reasons I picked him today is the OKC/HOU series and MIL/TOR series play on the same days. MIL/TOR will be the most difficult series to navigate in my opinion and so clearing out Westbrook who is the only player worth picking in the OKC series will help later on with picking Giannis/DeRozan/Lowry/Ibaka/Middleton.

    1. Only if both of those series goes to Games 6 and 7.

    2. Great comment. Always key to look ahead at the logjams. My plan only has three series I'm waiting on right now - Jazz vs. Clippers, Raptors vs. Bucks, and Bulls vs. Celtics. Should be able to pick those safely during the Game 5 and 6 portion of Round 1.

  4. I have Westbrook on google drive and Kanter on fantasy postseason. I initially had Isaiah Thomas on google but decided to lay off the Celtics due to Rondo being out which may have reopened the door for the Celtics despite being down 0-2 on the road. I think the Clippers/Jazz series is also hard to predict like Raptors/Bucks so I did not tough that game and I don't want to use the same player in both games, not to mention Rockets/Thunder G4 falls on the same day as Cavs/Pacers G4. With the Cavs classic comeback/Indiana's classic collapse I need to use Paul George in G4 on google since I didn't use him yet there so I took Kanter on fantasy postseason where I used George in G3 since I can simply use Westbrook in G4 if the Thunder go 0-3 with no worry of losing a superstar.

  5. Looks like I made a HUGE MISTAKE picking Kanter.... his minutes are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE, like what on earth happened to him? Did he instantly turn ancient?!

    1. Why not go Westbrook on both? Does Fantasy Postseason have multipliers? I don't recall seeing that in the rules, so I'll have to take a look.

      Delete
    2. Just checked - no multipliers. No need to even worry about losing a superstar. Would you rather have Westbrook against Houston D or San Antonio D? I'm considering Harden this round just because of the huge scoring potential.

    3. I AM still picking Westbrook in this round in fantasy postseason too, just not the same game number. Because the Thunder won G3, there will be a G5 but it could still be the last game falling on G5 of Grizzles/Spurs potentially being the end of both series which means I may have competition between Zach Randolph and Westbrook on Tuesday.

I don't want to pick a superstar on the same night in both games (except possibly in the finals) so I have 2 shots at getting their best game and if they have a bad night I could still get them on a good night in the other game.

    4. Ah I see. That makes total sense. Got it.

  6. Today's my Lillard day. Picked him last year for Game 3 against Golden State and he had a huge game. Hope I get the same kind of performance.

P.S.A. Blake Griffin out for the playoffs with a toe injury. I guess Maccabi will be picking the puppy.

haha, I will wait on DeAndre or Mareese Spuppy ;-) I just wanted to stay away from picking Clippers since Gobert was out, as I prefered having Griffin against the Warriors than having to pick Redicks or Crawfords. But obviously the Clippers always fall injured. I will learn fro mistakes

    2. Lillard on google drive, Paul Millsap on fantasy postseason

      Delete
    3. Switching from Millsap to Schröder on FP because I need as cold of a pick as possible due to my G4 Lillard pick being dreadfully owned by 45%+.

On Google Drive I already spent both Blazers, so this is my day to start picking Hawks at home. After huge Millsap game 2, I am also going with Dennis Schröder. I hope cold pick gets hot. On FP CJ, hoping for a bounce back game

  9. Blake Griffin gone for the season.... AGAIN!.... Typical Clippers luck!

  10. With ATL winning this game I have change my CJ pick for Marc. I will pick CJ for G4. With LAC-UTAH and SA-MEM playing on the same I need to pick Hayward in case the LAC goes up 3-1. Got Millsap pencil in for G5. Looks like I have to pick Teague on Sunday since I pick George already.

  11. The Grizzlies have tied their series with the Spurs 2-2 so I will be delaying my Marc Gasol (google) and Zach Randolph (fantasy) picks until G6. If the Thunder win G4 there will be competition between Randolph and Westbrook.

    1. Let's check out this competition:
      - Westbrook: 31.6 PPG, 10.7 REB, 10.4 AST, 28 years old
      - Randolph: 14.1 PPG, 8.2 REB, 1.7 AST, 35 years old
If Randolph can keep this competition close, it will be nothing short of a miracle. If the Thunder win G4, I think G6 is perhaps the easiest decision ever made.

    2. LOL I was just thinking at top 2 players (though Westbrook is now top 1 with Durant gone), but since the Thunder lost Westbrook now gets my G5 pick in fantasy postseason...if we can ever make picks again there!

  12. You know what really sucks? That there is nothing on nba.com.
I mean, back in ancient times there were summaries of the games, even with some statistics. These days I am lucky if there are at least these small films of the games.

So, Griffin is out, huh? Interesting. Didn´t know that.

Kevin Durant is not playing? Good to know. Nobody tells me these things.

And all that after being without internet for 4 days. These playoffs are off to a rocky start for me.

The only series playing today with an elimination game is the Pacers-Cavs. As I already used Paul George, Teague is the obvious choice. I think the Thunder will not advance, but they don¡t have a better pick than Teague, Westbrook apart. And I prefer waiting on the other series, just wishing no more Clippers get injured

  14. I'm with you Taong in picking Teague. It makes the most sense. Down 0-3, he is certainly going home soon. He was in my top 14 of players likely to be eliminated, so picking him shouldn't affect my ability to pick other star players I planned on picking. I didn't realize he was an upcoming free agent, so I'm happy to hear that as he might have that little extra motivation.

    1. Teague ended up beating George 29-28 on google drive and 35-25 on fantasy postseason!

    2. Now it's saying Teague only got 34, late turnover dang!

  15. I can't pick beyond tomorrow in fantasy postseason.
