Three Game Sevens?

So every high seed did their job to even up the series on the road. Except for the Rockets. Down 1-3, you should have your best remaining Rocket for your Tuesday pick. That would be Dwight Howard for me. I hope he stays out of foul trouble this time around.

The Cavs-Bulls, Hawks-Wiz and Warriors-Grizzlies series are all 2-2. The Game 4 winners will be carrying their momentum into Game 5 at home and will try to get a 3-2 commanding lead. It's not a do-or-die situation yet, but they know how critical Game 5 will be. If they lose, then they'll be pressed to avoid elimination on the road. And they wouldn't want that.

DTTF-wise, we can only wish that the home teams win Game 5 (except Rockets of course). If not, then we will be switching back and forth between teams, and there won't be enough to run with next round.

My only hope is that the Cavs and the Warriors win Game 5 as I expect them to meet in the Finals. Countless times I've been left with scraps for the Finals in previous years. This year, I need full force in Finals to break that Top 100.

Fingers crossed.

  1. Proof that you can't panic at 2-1. Stick to your guns. I got 23 from Noah and 47 from Beal in the last 2 days, very happy with both those. Both teams were up, now they are back to being the underdog. If everything goes as planned, I will have a full slate of players to pick from Cleveland, Atlanta, Golden State and Los Angeles. Great spot to be in, even though I'm just in the 69th percentile. Blake and CP3 will surely help with that.

A bit confused with tonight. Best Bull left is Pau, but he's likely out. Mirotic? Gibson? Dunleavy? Gibson is also banged up... tough call. Best Rocket? Ariza or Smith. Smith has been terrible. Ariza rarely has two really strong showings in a row. I'll likely be going back and forth until I eventually make a decision at some point.

I need a Cavs win tonight.

    1. Ariza is a good pick. He's a great matchup against the Clippers and gets a ton of minutes. He had 2 big games in a row in games 1 and 2, so it happens. His only bad game was a result of coming out firing in game 3 and missing everything, so they went away from him. And even then he managed a 13.

      Delete
    2. You're right. I'll probably do Ariza tonight.

    3. I agree, Ariza is a good pick for tonight. He is good for 26-30 PRA in this series, just not in the game I decided to pick him unfortunately.

Since you still have Ariza, it is much better to pick him, than any Bulls player, or especially a Cavs player who probably move on to Round #3.

Nice job picking Bradley Beal on the right day!

  2. Yesterday was amazing and unfortunate for me. Stuck with my guns, and the teams I bet on did their job. My pick was unfortunate. A 12 from Otto Porter was, well, kind of to be expected at some point. Not like my other consideration, Gortat, did better. What was killer was watching helplessly as Bradley Beal dominated one game too late. That was a huge advantage for 4 out of 6 members of my league, who all had Beal. Ouch.

Tonight, everybody will likely have a Rocket.... except me. I got a ton out of my three Rockets, and now will look to the Bulls. I've been waiting on picking Bulls, mostly because of how confident I am in the Clippers. I've picked Rose for a 35, and now I will pick Jimmy Butler. I'm hoping I get lucky and Jimmy Butler goes out and gets one of those crazy good games. It's a big game and he's a big game player.

For Wednesday, I'm going with Marcin Gortat. He was terrible in game 4, so surely he's the type of player I should stay away from, right? Wrong. He's one of their top guys, and they will look to him, and I hope he can get hot. Check out last year vs. the Pacers:

Game 4 (in Washington): 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist
Game 5 (in Indiana): 31 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists

I think he will get things going on both the boards and on the scoreboards after being so bad. I can only hope. I've been off with my Wizard picks, so I hopefully can get this one right.

If all goes to plan, the Rockets will be out, and the other home teams will all be 3-2. Then I'll have a lot of choices in game 6. There's Paul Pierce, Mike Conley, and Joakim Noah. And then there are the injury wildcards in Pau Gasol and John Wall.

    1. That was hard to believe that Marcin Gortat once put up 49 PRA in a playoff game (vs. Indiana last year). I do remember that, because it was shocking and unbelievable when it happened. Naturally I did not pick him on that night, of course. lol

  3. Taong for tomorrow, Nene or Otto Porter? I could also do Pierce but thinking he'll be my game 7 guy if it happens to come to that

    1. Otto. But you know Otto vs Nene is a tough q. Both inconsistent.

  4. I have Jimmy Butler tonight, already used
    D. Rose, no one else from Bulls.
    Also have used,
    Blake-Clippers,
    Howard, Hardin, & Josh Smith-Houston,
    Beal-Wizards
    Milsap-Hawks.
    Gasol-Memphis
    Thompson-Warriors
Tomarrow's game's, I still have Z-BO & Conley & will probably debate on those 2! Think I might have screwed myself last night using Klay Thompson for a absolute pitiful 19 PRA. I wanted to try & make up ground, but didn't work. That's been my luck since the get go! To start off this years DTTF, I used Tyreke, so you see my luck on a few picks. Also, Isaiah Thomas, Kyle Lowry, & Josh Smith, on ALL of those players worst games. Still think I have a chance to catch leader in my league, just need to choose right & smart! Good-Luck all...

    1. I picked Tyreke Evens on his 2nd worst game (14 PAR), but I also had Dwight Howard on his disaster night with the same number of PAR and also took Thomas and Lowry at their worst times (I thought Smith's was awful too getting 10 below his average but he has been dissipating throughout the series, he had 2 15 PAR games, then a 16 PAR and now a 7).

  5. Both road teams last night won their games and evened their respective series at 2-2. In the case of Golden State, they really turned things around after two very pathetic showings vs. Memphis, where it even looked like Memphis might be the team moving on to the next round in this series. But now with Golden State having two home games out of the last three of this series, the advantage is all theirs for the taking. Golden State only lost 2 regular season games all year, and added a third loss when Memphis shockingly beat them @ home in Game #2. After a Game #4 huge road win, you have to like the Warriors now to get the job done and advance, even if it takes 7 games to do so.

Atlanta also has two remaining home games out of the three remaining in their series, and the Hawks seem likely to advance as well because of that, and with John Wall still injured. That seems tough to overcome over the course of 7 games, and Atlanta showed eventually win this, even if it takes all 7 games to do so. If John Wall actually came back and played at a high level that could change things, but as of now, without a huge surprise happening, Atlanta and Golden State should be the two teams eventually advancing from this set of two game series.

My pick of Otto Porter (miserable 12 PRA) was highly disappointing especially given the fact that he had a nice stretch going the previous three games of 22, 28, and 30 PRA. Naturally since I picked him last night, he didn't do much of anything and only ended up with 12 PRA. Should of picked Nene (23 PRA), but glad I didn't pick Marcin Gortat (11 PRA) not that it really matters at this point. The curse continues.

Best pick from losing teams: Clearly Bradley Beal (47 PRA), a 2015 playoff high for him.

Horrible picks: Marcin Gortat (11 PRA), and a supposedly hurt DeMarre Carroll (11 PRA), and Klay Thompson (19 PRA) who was definitely very much below what you normally expect from him.

  6. Should I pick Mozgov? He had a nice game and I feel like the Bulls are going to win because Lebron and Kyrie are both banged up and Gasol is returning soon. I don't want to lose Lebron or Kyrie though and they're injured so I don't want to pick them. I also know that this series is probably going to game 7 so I can pick both of them if the Bulls win. If the Bulls win in 6 then I lose Kyrie but I'm okay with that since he's injured right now. If the Cavs win then I will pick Butler and then Gasol in game 7 and risk losing Lebron. I don't know what to do right now. I don't want to make the wrong move and lose 30+ pra players.

    1. I wouldn't pick Mozgov. If you lose LeBron/Kyrie, it hurts more than Mozgov. If the Cavs advance and you don't have Kyrie next round, you still have Mozgov, so that evens out.

      Pick the best players first.

    2. just pick from the other series. if cavs lose game 5, then u pick lbj game 6. you dont really lose irving and mozgov' pra coz you can find same pra on the other series

    3. I've already picked harden, howard, and ariza so I have to pick from this series.

    4. hope u still picked a rocket. josh smith can do 20 pra. just a lil bit off irving and mozgov's average pra

  7. For tonight, Cleveland goes back home after winning Game #4 in Chicago. Cleveland after dropping Game #1 at home, throttled the Bulls in Game #2 at home, and I figure the Cavs should play closer to that game, than the first one they played at home vs. the Bulls in this series. It is concerning though that Kyrie Irving is not playing even close to what he should be, so that puts all of the burden on LeBron to carry this team. If anything happens to LeBron at all, or if LeBron gets in foul trouble in any game, the Bulls could very easily win any game or this whole series. These games are that close, where anything can change the outcome.

The certainty comes from the other game, Houston vs. LA Clippers. The Clippers are definitely moving on, whether that be from Game #5 or Game #6. With how the Clippers have annihilated the Rockets in almost every game this series, even moving to home court doesn't seem like it will save the Rockets for even one more game. The Clippers only lost one game in this series, Game #2 without Chris Paul playing, so they had an excuse for that one, and still almost won it. With Chris Paul's still playing injured, I imagine the Clippers would want to end this series as quick as they can to avoid risking further injury to Chris Paul or others. But even if that doesn't happen in Houston, a win will definitely happen back in Los Angeles, and the Clippers will be moving on to Round #3.

With that in mind, and with this series on life support, I will definitely be picking a Houston Rocket tonight. Going with Dwight Howard tonight. Howard had a miserable performance in Game #4 in LA (14 PRA + ejection), so hoping for a big rebound performance tonight after that. Dwight Howard had 33 PRA and 43 PRA in the first two games of this series vs. the Clippers and does seem to do better at home. Hopefully that happens tonight, Howard keeps himself on the court and out of foul trouble, and if he could put up another 40+ PRA efffort, I would be thrilled with that tonight.

    1. i hope Rivers do hack-a-howard. free 1 pra.

    2. Yes, as long as he actually makes them. He is just as proficient as Jordan at shooting free throws. And that isn't saying much.

Unfortunately if that happens, we will all be bored to death. Especially if it becomes a free throw shooting contest between Jordan and Howard.

  8. As a few others stated, trying to be clever and picking a seemingly streaking Porter backfired in a big way. This may have had something to do with aceee006 thinking about picking him, that seems to be enough these days :)

What else is new? All series tied after the first two games. All supposed underdogs up 2-1 after three games. 3 of the series still tied after four games. The Clippers will win, the other favorites now look to be in a good position to move on.

Tonight is a no brainer, Dwight Howard on home court. I don't think it matters much how he does because there are so many picking him tonight. Is there anybody keeping Harden in reserve for this game? Well, there might be. After that I will ignore this series even if there is a game 6, which I don't believe. In game 6 it will be whoever is with his back against the wall, either Butler or James.

Tomorrow it will be two tied series, with both #1 seeds on their home court trying to move within a win of the conference finals. Must-pick in the West is Marc Gasol, in the East Bradley Beal. Which one of them is better on the road?

I have no idea, so I will go with my gut and pick... hmm... Bradley Beal? Hot off his career night? On the road? Is that wise? Nah, I trust more in Marc Gasol. Go get them PRA, Marc.

  9. Pau Gasol (hamstring) has been ruled OUT for Game #5 vs. Cleveland (Rotoworld). Taj Gibson to start again in his place.

  10. I already picked the 3 Rockets (Harden, Ariza and Howard). Now time to pick from the Cavs vs Bulls series.

Already pick Rose from the Bulls. No Cavs taken yet. For tonight, really wanted to pick Noah but I still have Pau and Butler available. Looks like I have to go with Butler and Pau could be back in G6. If not, I will pick Noah where he plays better at home.
