(Not)Guaranteed: Turn bad series around!

Welcome to another edition of Guarantees in which I (do not) guarantee playoffs things that can happen in next 4 days. Considering my Guarantees always come before Tuesday and Saturday games, teams really wanted to make sure I know exactly from which matches I can guarantee some stuff as one 2nd round series already ended and three others are tied 2-2 and that means they will all play 2 games in next 4 days.

Although Guarantees lately are somehow very unlikely to happen (1/6 in last 3 days), maybe it can finally be turned around as previous Guarantee (#60) was correct and I hope more of Guarantees will become correct this time ;) Let's get in to see what can be guaranteed for next few days.

Tuesday Guarantees

Guarantee #61: Turn bad series around! I guarantee Brooklyn Nets are going to win Game 5 after losing two games in a row in Milwaukee. [Correct, Nets won!]

Guarantee #62: KD back to efficient! I guarantee KD will shoot over 45% from the field after having two games under 40% from the field. [Correct, KD had almost 70% efficiency from the field! Big game, nice start for Guarantees :)]

Wednesday Guarantees

Guarantee #63: Joel will excel! I guarantee Joel Embiid will have at least 32 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists in a win in Game 5. (I know it's risky considering his health and Game 4 performance, but I think he will try to dominate this game) [Not correct, he had those stats, but they lost...]

Guarantee #64: 6th man of the year! I guarantee Jordan Clarkson will score at least 20 points in Game 5 after he had just 8 in Game 4. [Not correct, he had 15]

Thursday Guarantees

Guarantee #65: Other Big 3! I guarantee Bucks Big 3 (Giannis, Khris and Jrue) will score at least 70 points in Game 6. [Correct, they scored 89, the same as whole Nets' team!]

Friday Guarantees

Guarantee #66: A lot of threes! I guarantee this day there will be at least 50 made 3-pointers. [Correct, it was 63 3's thanks to Utah and LA's over 20]

Guarantee #67: Practice free throws! I guarantee Ben Simmons will shoot under 50% from free throw line in Game 6. [Not correct, he made exactly 50% FT, 2/4]

Guarantee #68: Superstars! I guarantee Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will score at least 55 points  combined in Game 6.* [Correct, PG had exactly 28 points]

* With Kawhi injured, I need PG-13 to score 28+ points (half of those 55) to have it correct.

Feel free to discuss in comments not only my guarantees, but also games, players performances and fantasy implications. And whenever you read it, have a great day!

  1. I hope #62 will be true as I have KD picked. But I feel like the Bucks have a big chance to win this game despite his (hopefully) big game.

I am worried about Joel's knee. I don't feel confident that he is healthy enough to play big for so much time. Anyway I still think the Sixers will advance, as I predicted before the start in a long series. So my pick goes to Trae Young, trying to avoid difficult decisions two days later. I do believe that Clarkson should have a strong game, and I hope the Jazz can still advance because I have all of them available and I already picked PG13, Kawhi and Reggie Jackson. What a nightmare with this Clippers team fantasy-wise.

I think #65 will come true easily, and I wouldn't be surprised if this series ends there (another nightmare considering I picked all 3 of them)

And finally, on Friday I only think the last one will come true. Ben Simmons will read this post and practice free throws for 5 hours, and still hit only 50-60% lol

    4/8

    1. Thanks for comment ;) I'm also going KD now and then Mitchell probably as I picked Young for Game 4.

I'm also worried about Embiid, but I hope they advance as I picked 4 Hawks (as I earlier stated I was flying with Hawks ;)) and his domination in the paint is very important for them.

Bucks are also now in attack mode and that is trouble for Nets, but I think refs will have impact on this game as in Milwaukee they allowed for physical D and in Brooklyn they can blow more whistles with that type of D. I still hope Nets win, but it looks like 50/50 now.

This situation reminds me a little Bucks-Raptors from 2019 as Bucks had 2-0 and lost Game 3 in OT despite playing not so good, so I though they should be better next games and win, but since then it was only Toronto winning... on the other hand there were series when team who tied 2-2 suddenly played much worse on the road and lost series in 6... we'll see how it works ;)

I want to have 5/8 Guarantees right this time as I want to come back to the definition of this word and make it more guaranteed ;) since lately it was disaster with 1/6 (almost like Simmons' FT today xD)

    2. Just imagine we have as Conference Finals Suns-Clippers and Bucks-Hawks...I will have to pick my uncle xD

    3. Yeah, it's kind of possible... then Lou Williams can deserve to be my pick xD although maybe your uncle is also solid option with high potential of career-high if he plays xD

    4. Well, the youngest one is 49 years old...but he can still run the floor. Maybe the Nets need some emergency depth. He would only need to be in the right place to get a board and have a career-high. I also saw a pic on Twitter very funny, with Steve Nash dressed as a player while Harden and Irving where looking at him from the sidelines xD

    5. I would love to see Nash playing again :D then they should bring Amar'e too ;) Bucks would be at least surprised xD

    6. Uncle is warming up. Good to have Trae picked "to avoid difficult decisions two days later" xD Anyway I think I will stick to my guns and pick Collins. It has been this kind of Playoffs, I wouldn't be surprised if Sixers and Jazz still advance

    7. Me too, I'm going with Lopez... I picked Reggie Jackson hoping Jazz will win with Kawhi injured (I had Mitchell before knowing about injury) and they disappointed me :/ I also considered Huerter, so I'm happy I didn't pick him as Reggie was way better choice.

Those playoffs are wild considering how many surprises we have and things change so quickly... hopefully still Sixers and Jazz will advance, but it's probably time to pick someone from them as I don't want to be left with no solid options in Conference Finals. I feel Sixers can win easily Game 6 with blowout and this time they will not collapse, but we'll see if that happens, with them everything is possible as two straight games they had big leads and they lost (Doc Rivers playoffs mode?)...

    8. I just don't think I have anything to lose. Finishing 7th or 17th on GD? I don't care, I prefer to go against the grain. If I fail it will be fun to search for rare picks xD

      Delete
    9. Yeah, but look at Bucks in Game 6- Lopez was 4th best scorer with 13 PRA. Good luck for us with those rare picks when 10 PRA suddenly becomes great result xD

      Delete
    10. Lopez looked good in the first half, but disappeared in the second. I still hope the Nets can advance, because their remaining picks are more reliable

  2. What. The. Heck?

Conference Semifinals, West seed 1 and East seed 1 lose game 5 at home in a tied series. Both of them. What are the odds?

How can the Kawhi-less Clippers win at Utah? How can the newbie-Haws win at Philly after being down 26? For that matter, how can the Nets win without Irving and with a hobbled Harden? Strange things are happening.

I had Collins for 31 in GD and Bogdanovic for 35 in FP, but I still am not quite happy :D

Tonight it´s my remaining Bucks (so if the Bucks manage to win the series, I am screwed). Tomorrow it will have to be Mitchell and Embiid. Ah well.

    1. Well, I had Reggie Jackson last game and it was pretty good, but bad because Clippers won ;/ what a strange playoff run this is and we can all be screwed and pick guys with peak of 10 PRA ;)
