AGAINST THE GRAIN: Doin The Dipo

So, unsurprisingly, most people are rolling with Westbrook or Paul George today. This makes total sense, but what if the Thunder turn this series around & put their star power on display in order to knock out three straight wins? Unlikely, yes, but still possible. Or perhaps you've already picked Westbrook & just aren't so confident in George or don't want to go two Thunder deep quite yet. I'm here to tell you, that although risky, Oladipo is now a safe pick with the series tied & 2 out of the 3 remaining games being in Cleveland. If the Cavs would have lost the last game, I'd truly believe they'd be in trouble, but let's just face it; they haven't played well at all yet & now it's a 3 game series that is theirs to lose. The King simply WILL NOT lose to the Pacers.

Also, Victor O turned in a very poor shooting performance last game that I fully expect him to bounce back from as his team's best player. One thing I haven't seen from this series is a back & forth shoot-out with each team's best player being hot in the same game. I predict this will happen here in the game 5, but the King will prevail & thus Doin The Dipo will pay off for his believers.

  1. Oladipo is a good pick if you are trying to go against the grain. I'd advise everybody to pick one of George or Westbrook, but if you want to try something cheeky, Olapido is a solid choice. Looks like the Cavs series to lose. Hope not though. Go Pacers!

  2. I think picking Paul George is a safer pick against the grain. But as picking against the grain goes, safe is an alien word.

    1. Yeah I consider Paul a George part of “The Grain” today given he’s the obvious pick for anyone who already picked Westbrook (like me). I think for Round 2 I’ll likely adjust this column so I warn against one of the popular picks instead of advising specifically for another

  3. Well it was obvious who to take tonight but looks like I won't be getting George in too. At least I haven't taken any advancing players barring a Bucks comeback against the Celtics.

  4. Well today was the last 4 game day..... and it looked like it would be the last day with more than 2 games but I some people are claiming that the Jazz/Thunder series isn't over yet.... I DON'T BELIEVE IT! Last I looked it was 71-47 Jazz! Hopefully this is a GOOD omen by the DTTF Gods to be able to play Paul George!

    1. They wanted you to play Pauly! That game was so wild; I thought for sure it was over when I was watching it as the Thunder were dead in the water, but a switch was flipped. Chances are the JAZZ won't let that happen again

  5. Okay, as much fun as it was to get a 67 from RW it doesn´t matter much as pretty much everybody got these PRA. Just as the pick tomorrow is clear, it´s Playoff-George. I shudder to think the Thunder might have broken the Jazz with that insane comeback. How is it even possible to be down 25 with a little more than 8 minutes to play in the quarter and reach a draw before the buzzer? Crazy. I hope that the Jazz don´t let that stop them from advancing in the next game. If they have to go to Chesapeake again they will be out. That would not be good for most of us.

Tonight there is only one game. Seeing as I already picked Giannis and Khris there is not much left. I will go with Bledsoe and hope for a Celtics win. If not tonight then in g7.

I am still worried about the East. LeBron needing a miracle block and crazy three to eke out a win against a Pacers team that had 12 points from their „best“ player? The 1 seed having the biggest problems to go up 3-2 against the 8 seed? Not to mention what Boston is doing. But someone has to represent the East in the Finals. Philly? Really? I have no idea what is going to happen in the next few weeks.

Awesome. A pain in the ass for DTTF, but still awesome.
