Game Sixes

April 27 and 28 give us five game 6s, and for us, picks should be easy, right? Best available player remaining.

Thursday: M Conley MEM
Friday: C Paul LAC

Easy peasy!

Now, you can get fancy and not do that. If you want, you can pick based on which underdog you think can win Game 6 and force a Game 7. If I think Memphis can win Game 6, then I'll pick Buck's Khris Middleton Thursday, and then delay pick on Mike Conley for Game 7.

Except I think Grizzlies and Clippers are going down Game 6. Spurs are still ralatively old so they'll try to finish this off now and rest Tony Parker before Round 2. And Clippers are not a playoff team without Blake Griffin.

Good luck!

  1. Breaking my rule turned out to be a terrible thing as Wade not only beat but blew out Butler 45-28 on google drive and 45-27 on fantasy postseason. I initially had Butler on google anyway but switching on FP cost me 18 points! I said why picking the same player in both games on the same night is an awful idea and then I broke my own rule because I was so "SURE" Butler would get more than Wade and he wasn't even close to Wade's score. Tomorrow night I could use Wade (Bulls).... or Millsap (Hawks) but it's probably the Clippers last night. Sadly if at least 2 of those teams force a game 7 I'll still lose at least 1 major player as all 3 tentative game 7s are on the same day (April 30).

    1. I'm sure if they erased your memory of what happened and send you back in time, you''ll make the same decision to break your rule. I would. Picking Butler was the right thing, even though the end didn't justify the means :)

    2. I guess you mean I'd break it only with Wade instead. Well I'll bring up a list of perfect list combination after each round only counting players that lost or were gone after a certain point in that round ex Blake Griffin. We'll see how far I'm off but 35/40 is terrible!

    3. If my memory is erased it would be a tossup between Butler on both and splitting between him and Wade but spliting is the best bet. Picking Wade in both wouldn't be done unless I could forsee the future but if this happens and I split I benefit in one game, where as I pick the same player and I could get a subpar showing like I did from Butler. I expected 30+ points alone and did not even get 30 with assists and rebounds factored in and even lost 1 with Steals + Blocks - TURNOVERS on FP.

    5. That Wade vs. Butler situation is a weird one that is more the exception than the norm. Butler was the right call in both, but just had a weird result that only happens 1 time out of every 10. I'm not convinced this strategy is actually benefitting you. Doing this, you picked Middleton and Monroe in Google DTTF, but never got to pick Giannis. That's not what you want.

    6. You're complaining... I lost out on 49 points because I picked Teague in game 3 and PG in game 4. If I had switched those two around I would be in the top 10 right now.

    7. Actually 5th place right now... WHYYYYY DID I PICK TEAGUE FIRST.

Obvious choices for game 6 for everyone. But how funny it would be if we had 5 game 7? xD

  3. Easy choices for me. I was a bit nervous the Wizards would lose Game 5 and ruin everything I'd planned. Fortunately, they prevailed. For the Game 6's, I can go with the players I've reserved for this spot - The Greek Freak tonight, and Chris Paul tomorrow. Hopefully, the teams up 3-2 can hold for me, because that would mean I have a full slate of players available for Round 2. I've been patient to not pick any Celtics, any Raptors, or any Jazz players, in spite of times they were down in their respective series.

    1. Your Jazz call will be your defining advantage. Most of us bailed on the Jazz early and picked Hayward.

    2. Yep. I believe in that team. They still need to finish it up though. LA Clippers won't go down without a fight.

    3. I was worried most about the Wizards, once they and the Celtics won I felt like I got this round correct.... then the Jazz had to screw up.... no way would the NBA gods let me get all 8 series right which would have been a good consolation for leaving strong players unpicked in one game or the other (and both games in one case besides Blake Griffin)

  4. Okay, so far we have our first day without any games. Bad planning by the NBA Now if the Jazz can defend homecourt and the Celtics and the Wizards could win on the road, does that mean there won´t be any games on saturday and sunday? That would be... strange.

Anyway, my pick tonight is Chris Paul, tomorrow I will go with Dirk Nowitzki.

Finally, the day to pick the puppy has come. On saturday I am sure no one will do better than him

    1. This made me laugh pretty good. At least, certainly nobody will do worse than the puppy on Saturday.

It's unfair, Fantasy Postseason doesn't allow me to pick him. I am sure he will steal a few frisbees. Luckily Google Drive is open

  6. Already pick the best remaining stars on the losing team in both series except Griffin. Makes my pick for tonight much simple as my pick goes to Jimmy Butler.

  7. Despite the mistakes I've made in this round all the series have been going the right way.... now the Jazz can't beat the Clippers (without Blake Griffin) at home after taking G5 on the road?!

  8. Well Clips won G6.
Tangent, any reason Jazz lose G7?

    1. This series is too close to call. I'm glad I waited until Game 6 to make a decision on it, but there goes my full roster of players for the next round. Picking Hayward. I think the winner of the series remains a coin flip. Could go either way.

    2. Well I'm dammed if I do (switch) and I'm dammed if I don't! Switch Wade to Butler on FP: -18, Switch Greek Freak to Gasol on GD: -17, don't switch Chris Paul on either game: Got a 40..... BUT THE CLIPPERS WON!!!!! Every tough choice I make is the WRONG CHOICE!
Playing Monroe instead of Greek Freak in G5 was absolute brain freeze...maybe I thought MIL could still win since their closer win was bigger then the bigger loss (prior to getting blown out by 25 in G5).... then I change Wade to Butler because BOS/CHI G6 matched days
with LAC/Utah G6 and LAC is the ONE who wins G6?! Because Wade blew out Butler I decided to split Greek Freak and Gasol who were in the same boat, top player on team in a G6 at home facing elimination.... but Greek Freak is > Gasol.... yeah and I thought Butler > Wade! If Wade had slightly beaten Butler I would have played Greek Freak in GD, but Wade beating Butler by 15+ seemed like anything could happen between Gasol and Greek Freak in the same boat.... but because I switched Greek Freak beat Gasol by 17! So then I decide no switching I'm taking Paul in both games instead of flipping one to Millsap, Jordan or Wade. Good thing I didn't take Wade as he was truly invisible (8 PAR including just 2 points)... I figured Butler would beat him and he beat him by 22, 4 or 5 more than Wade beat him by in G5! However Millsap was the pick to make as he got even more than Paul especially on FP (48-40 on GD, 55-38 FP) AND the Hawks got eliminated! I'm dammed if I keep my plan and I'm dammed if I change. I can't win either way!

I agree game 7 is so close. If only the Clippers had won game 5...my plan to pick Gobert and Hayward in 6 would have been good. Now picking Hayward in game 7 at Staples, too much risk of elimination and losing him
