League Leaders

And so the Heat has extended our agony by forcing a Game 7. Can the Heat continue to use small ball? Will the Raptors adjust, or to continue to play their game? I got the Raptors winning Game 7 at home, but to tell you honestly, I am not at all confident in that. Let me roll the dice...

My guts tell me Joe Johnson is the better pick. He looks like he is out of his funk and he (along with Luol Deng) are unrestricted free agents this summer with something to prove. But... few things beat number of touches, so my bet is on Goran Dragic.

Anyone picking a Raptor? ;)

Now that we have leaderboards, I now see that our friend Alex has been silently creeping past all of us all this time :D

Gute Arbeit! Weiter so!

  1. I'm picking a Raptor! In fact, I'm picking two Raptors.

In classic DTTF, I've got DeMar DeRozan. It's game 7. DeRozan will be shooting. A lot. For better or for worse for Toronto. I'm hoping he does a lot of driving to the basket and gets to the free throw line. I want to pick him now, in case his wrist injury gets worse later in the playoffs. I believe the Raptors win, but all I'm sacrificing from Miami is Joe Johnson, which I'm OK with. If Joe Johnson has a big game, Miami probably wins the game anyways. So DeRozan it is!

In Drive & Slam, I'm picking Biyombo. Miami's lack of bigs with Whiteside out and Valaciunas being out means it's a good time to pick Biyombo. With the multipliers, I'd like to save DeRozan and Lowry for next round. I'm not worried about a Miami win there, as a Heat win would all but seal my fate anyways. So I might as well risk it all on Toronto. I porbably don't need Biyombo next round anyways, so I'll play him. Because watching Biyombo is fun, I might as well get some points out of playing him. Go Raptors!

As I said, I'm going with Biyombo. Even if Valanciunas misses more time, I think Biyombo will have a worse matchup against Cavs. And I want to save DeRozan for later. If they advance (as I think) and I use him now, I will only have Carroll and...Ross? Patterson? And I don't want to use many Cavs before the finals, as we might need Warriors in the west finals

  6. Ha! I wouldn´t have been so silent if I could have spread all my wisdom here ;)

So, now, g7. I picked two players of each team already. For the Heat it was Wade in round 1 and Dragic in round 2, both in game 6 after losing g5. From the Raptors I have Valanciunas and Biyombo.

So I can go two ways. I can go All-In with the Raptors, pick my best Heat Player left (Johnson over Deng) and hope for a win of the hometeam.
OR I can pick a Raptor, thereby losing him for the next round.

Being down you have to be bold. Being in the lead you might have to play it safe. So the plan is: Pick a Raptor.

I have outsmarted myself in this game for many years now. Admittedly, the multipliers makes it more difficult, but in the classic DTTF it is not that important when you get your PRA, just that you get them.

DeRozan and Lowry carried the team in the last two games. Lowry had a great g6, so I will go DeRozan.

I have to admit, I am not sure about this. But it´s my thought process for my next pick. For what it´s worth.

  8. Unfortunately the Thunder/Warriors series doesn't start until tomorrow so I have to take an extra player who may not reach 20+ PAR. This also means the playoff ending streak of 1 game game-days has started early, already reaching 3 before the conference finals even began. I've got Joe Johnson (goole)and Luol Deng (D&S) today. For the Thunder/GS series; Harrison Barnes and Shaun Livingston are getting picked for games 1 and 2 (in opposite orders for each game), Steven Adams and Andre Iguodala for games 3 and 4 (again in opposite order per game) and Kevin Durant in game 5. If the Warriors go up 3-0, I will switch Durant to game 4 and move Adams/Iguodala to game 5.

  9. With Toronto being at home today (37-11 home record) and Miami being on the road (22-25 road record), I'll go with the plan that Toronto is winning this game today and pick a Heat player. Am I confident in that plan? Absolutely not. But going to have to lean one way or the other, so logically Toronto makes sense.

Had Joe Johnson (18 PRA) in Game #6, which was slightly below his 20 PRA average in games vs. Miami while with Toronto. Goran Dragic (41 PRA) was the clear choice to play from Game #6, Dwyane Wade also putting up a decent 33 PRA effot.

The smart choice today is to either pick Dwyane Wade or Goran Dragic, Miami's two best players. I'll take a more conservative approach and go with Justise Winslow who once again finds himself in the starting lineup. Winslow put up 16 PRA in Game #6 while starting, and hopefully he can at least do that again or more.

If Miami somehow wins this, then I'll still have their two best players for next round and the 3X multiplier. If not, oh well, still got the full Toronto roster to mess with.

    4. Alycin, you put JoeJohnson (not Biyombo) as your second 05/13/2016 instead of 05/15/2016. Sorry I don't see Biyombo anywhere. Would you like me to go ahead mod Joe for the 15th?

      Delete
    5. Granted u Joe for the 15th. No Biyombo in any of your entries though, haven't seen one. Removed your duplicate gamedays too on 4th and 12th.

      Delete
    6. J , I technically put no one on the 15th as I picked for the 16th and further removed Biyombo because of that error , as he obviously was not playing that day , I meant I picked Biyombo on the 15th nothing to do with the 13th to clear that up, I picked Joe on the 13th

    7. You picked DeRozan for the 13th 1 minute before you picked Joe for the same date. By virtue of first pick stays and duplicate gets deleted, you should accept i granted you Joe for the 15th. Besides I can only change date, I can't change picks. Can't add Biyombo if you missed 15th pick. Site dev only gave me certain limited editing privs.

You also made duplicate picks before. I suggest just play it straight since there are no prizes here. Pic here before I cleaned em up. http://i68.tinypic.com/suvgc0.png

You're alright. Just be careful next time.

    8. Alright I will take that , it is better than nothing , but I already picked derozan on the 5th , I probably picked Derozan as a accident , but I didn't think it would go through since I already picked him

    9. Had the site dev correct it. 5 derozan, 13 joe, 15, biyombo. Check later.

  11. Well it wasn't official until Toronto advanced but I can finally say I made a correct pick as I took Goran Dragic on Friday from the eventual series losing team. He put up 41 PAR and although the Heat won that game, they went on to lose the series. With yesterday being the 1st no game day, I decided to take LaMarcus Aldridge hoping he could give me at least 0 PAR! I made it... barely! I was tied with Greg Popovich and Russell Wilson for the lead yesterday! Everyone else dozed off. Today, however I had the inverse of a bounce back with Joe Johnson gaving me red, though it wasn't the worst result as I am no longer the only person to miss a pick (for real). With Toronto advancing I'm in much better shape (everyone available except Lowry) on google than if Miami had advanced, my D&S situation (Lowry, DeRozan and Biyombo used) isn't great but I think it is a slightly better this way.

    1. Man, I was really hoping that Pop could pull down a rebound or two for me. Oh well, I guess I got his season PRA average, and it's not like he lost me any points.

I'm the opposite of you for next round. I've used three Raptors (DDR, Lowry, Jonas) on Google, but only one Raptor (Bismack) on Drive & Slam. I look forward to some epic triple multipliers, especially after going down with a full slate of Spurs and being left with essentially Durant on the other side of things. Things will be a lot more dicey on Google. Should make for some fun strategy.

    2. He looked like a great pick (as did LA and Russell Wilson) but at least we didn't lose any ground. Maybe we'll do better on the 20th!
