Game Sixes

Down @ Home

The Celtics are the ones to pick from the 28th -- that we already know, regardless of a Game 7.

However, the Pacers are another thing because they share the 29th with two other match-ups. Since they are playing at home, they have the higher chance to extend to 7 games. Paul George will explode even more after that Drake comment, but I am not picking him (kids do not do this at home!). If that series ends in 6 and I didn't pick George, then so be it. That series has been very good for us fans. Game 5 was a thrill ride and Game 6 will sure be another one, don't miss it!

Down & Away

The Clippers and the Heat are on the brink of elimination, and unfortunately playing on the road. I won't bet that both teams can extend to 7 games. At least one will buckle, but which one?

The Heat's Game 5 loss was a heart-breaker. The Hornets will be tough to beat -- they are young but they smell blood. But I believe the Heat can steal one, at least compared to chances of...

The Clippers are a goner. If I'm Rivers, I'm now thinking, "Now that we've let it all out in Game 5 and still lost, shall I risk injury to my remaining of the Big Three?" Although unlikely, re-injuring DJ will spell a difficult free agency period for the Clippers. Note that Rivers is not just the coach of that organization. You have options: Jordan, Redick, Crawford, Green (and even Austin Rivers if he gets one of those Super Saiyan moments). I got the Sixth Man of the Year.

Good luck!

  2. Wow, the Hornets beat the Heat. And absolutely none of us planned for that at all. Almost everybody has picked Kemba Walker, and we all had different plans for Friday than picking a player from the Heat. Let the games begin!

Congrats on finally defeating the Taong curse this round, and getting a 30+ performance. I may have to look for a new strategy than "if Taong picks your guy, change as fast as you can". Could the curse finally be lifted?

For tonight, I've got Isaiah Thomas. Pretty easy decision, not much analysis needed, other than hope that his ankle doesn't cause problems. I'm looking forward to seeing all the secondary Celtics picked tonight. Somebody's getting a 30 PRA performance, and somebody's getting 10 PRA dud. Who will it be?

For Friday, I agree 100% with your analysis. The Hornets now have the advantage, but it's still up in the air. The Clippers are done. It's over. I don't have Paul George to consider anyways, but I do have all my Heat, and I'll similarly pass on them all to pick the sure thing of a Clipper going home. I have to pick DeAndre Jordan. Kicking myself for switching out of the Taong curse. If I had picked him, I could have at least claimed I helped eliminate the curse ;). Now I've gotta pick him tomorrow.

Good luck everyone. May the odds be ever in your favour on Friday.

    1. Nah I still have the curse. Despite the DJ pick, I haven't overtaken a single soul in our Google Drive :P

  3. Hi all,
Let me know if anyone wants to join my league for the same game. I have a working website (scoreboard, accurate stats, etc).

  4. Taong, please pick Paul George.

Everyone else will likely have him. It's best for everyone if they don't get a high score, you included.

    1. Hehe i am not sure how to interpret that, but yeah I'm playing catchup and it's probably not best practice to preach it. Because consistency and persistence are keys. It's an unorthodox postseason for me. I'll try to mix in more conventional moves in my posts in the Second Round.

    2. It's a plea from a Raptors fan who would be perfectly fine with Paul George getting cursed out there!

  5. 4/28/16.... the day that aceee06 went to shame.... just learned there is a 2nd way of being blacked out... I thought for sure I had made a pick.... if it isn't bad enough that the Heat's collapse with their game 6 on the same day as Indiana has dealing with losing Wade or George! Shame! shame! shame!

    1. It was the right day to miss out. 21 points missed, maximum. Only one game. The only players who got anything out of it are the two who hadn't picked Isaiah yet.

  6. If anyone is wondering why there won't be updates on the Google league tonight, it's because Friday Night drinks at the bar are in order for Tangent and myself. I'll be the one wearing the purple Damon Stoudamire jersey. We'll likely update it after the slate of games is done. And then again tomorrow morning to correct any mistakes.

    1. Are some of you guys playing in a different league that actually has stats, and a leaderboard, and letting you make rd2 picks? I cant tell if my picks have been counted, and where i stand in relation to other players. Was this a closed thing amonst like the 3 or 4 who post on here? Thanks,

    2. Yeah, when we were discussing options for this year, and early in the process we brought up the idea of using Google sheets. It was brought up in the comment section, and we had an open invite to people if they were interested in trying it out. We have 12 in the league.

  7. Thanks for the response, i must have miss the invite, and really dont understand the lingo like google sheets since i am not too computer tech savy. So, are you saying, i should no longer even make picks since i am not one of the 12?

    1. I'd say be patient with the Drive and Slam. Making picks for Round two should be up shortly. You can pick for Saturday still (Round 2 OKC vs. SA). I've already made my Saturday pick in Drive and Slam. Taong has mentioned start of round two is a "make or break" for getting the scoring and leaderboard up and running. Expect an announcement soon on that front. If it doesn't get done and round two ends up being a break point for D&S, message back here and we will figure something out to help you keep making picks this year.

    2. Well if you want, do it for free. You just wont win money.

  9. We did some cleanup. Deleted <400 inactive players (a league had too many bogus members causing probs in the site). <8000 players remain. Brb.

  10. This is 37 rebounds. I just checked my picks and both PRA columns are at "0" for each of my players. Tweaking still happening?

  11. Here is the funny part particularly in D&S where the multiplier is; today is round 2, tomorrow is round 1 lol!

    1. That's a good point. Taong, tomorrow in D&S, Portland vs. Golden State is x2 and the other games are x1, correct? That'll make things interesting. Do I go Kemba there (who I still haven't picked in D&S) or do I go with double points on a Blazer or a Warrior scrub?

    2. I'm pretty mad that POR/GS is starting tomorrow because it takes MANY value away from people like Paul George! For instance if he gets a 55 tomorrow it won't be like the 55 some people got in game 5. For instance if any Trailblazer or Warrior picked gets 25 PAR, then they will be given 50 and I will only gain 5 on them where as I would have gained 30 on such a pick earlier. As little as 28 would beat my pick outright but I don't want to lose out on PG.

  13. It bit that both mia/cha and tor/ind went 7gms, i never got a feel who would win them and ended up missing some good players. Stacked for rd2 except for cj mccullom though. Go Cavs.

  14. I had Kanter tonight. Man, he was awful. So was the entire OKC team. Even with 10 PRA, he was only -15 Westbrook and -20 Durant. Celebrate the small victories, I say. Celebrate the small victories. Ibaka and Adams were solid picks tonight. Picking Thunder players in San Antonio might be a problem.

    1. I had him too, it was my 2nd straight "red" pick but last night's was a rarity with 33 points still being red, this was a real RED result with 10 total PAR. The bigger shock was Boris Diaw as he was on the winning side of the rout and only but up 14 for me on D&S!
