Elimination Games

The Bulls and the Rockets lost their respective Game 4s and are now 1-3 facing elimination at home. For those who believe strongly that a team here is going to win Game 5 then spend your pick elsewhere. Otherwise, pick them. And luckily, Bulls play on Tuesday, and Rockets on Wednesday.

I am not sure if they'll lose or win; I just know they're in danger of being eliminated. Even at home. How many road wins are there already this Round 1?

It's Joakim Noah and James Harden up next.

Wednesday's games feature Game 5 of Mavs@Spurs. Just in case (not saying it will happen) the Spurs lose Game 4, then they'll join the Rockets in an elimination game on that date. And so my pick for Monday is Tony Parker. If they win Game 4, I'll take his PRA in advance as I don't think he'll fare better against Lilliard and Westbrook anyway.

Fingers crossed.

  1. the thing is, the clippers/golden state and the grizzles/okc series always play on the same days and after one more game, two of those four teams will be facing elimination as well. I still have randolph, gasol, klay, david lee, westbrook, durant left to pick so should i pick one of those on tuesday instead of noah?

    1. Stay with Noah.

If you pick the wrong player and his team wins, you're in deeper trouble.

    2. Noah's the smart pick. I'm going Randolph only because I'm throwing caution to the wind. If you are unsure, I'd say go Noah. If you think there may just be a method to my madness, go Randolph.

  2. Alright thanks ..btw is there any way to comment without constantly having to type out a visual verification every time

  3. I haven't picked Paul George before, so regarding his average points, this could be a good decision. I hope that Indiana will not go further..
For next day, I picked Mike Conley. OKC will win this series, it's a must.
And another day, just like you, I picked Harden.

And congratulations for your yesterday's pick - Curry. That was a very good decision.
My yesterday's pick was Noah and I don't know how he gathered 30 pts. His game was terrible. Gortat made a very good work on him.

    1. Thanks Kusinski! Now if only Warriors lose all the way.

That's the beauty of Noah's play. He works hard regardless

    2. And what do you about tomorrow pick:
Conley or Gasol? It's a coin toss?

    3. Yep, both are consistent. Either is fine.

  4. My pick for Monday is Dirk. It came down to Teague and Dirk, but ultimately I do think the Mavericks will lose. And if they don't, I'll gladly jump ship to Tony Parker on Wednesday as both Harden and Howard have been picked. I like Dirk to have a big game, and I don't put it past the Hawks to win this series still. Plus, Dirk is Tier 1 and Teague is Tier 2 in my opinion. It's a mistake that I wouldn't be too upset to make - losing a Maverick but them making the second round.

For Tuesday, I have Noah still but instead I'm going Randolph. I think he's poised to have a big game and, to be honest, I'm not concerned about Memphis that much (probably the 2-2 series I feel most confident in). That should nicely set up Thursday, where 3 teams guaranteed to be facing elimination and a fourth if the Bulls win. In that case, if just one of LAC-GS, OKC-MEM or IND-ATL goes the unexpected way, I can grab their star without losing Randolph in the process as he'd be picked. Or if they all go the expected way I can grab any player from Noah, Thompson, Lee, Teague, and Gasol. I like having that kind of selection! Ultimately, it comes down to thinking Randolph is poised for a big Game 5 in a Memphis loss, and picking Gasol in Game 6.

The Raptors won, so I've grabbed Lowry and DeRozan. But because I like the Raptors and despise the Nets, I don't really care that it didn't work out in my favour. I'm prepared to play Raptor Roulette in Round 2 if need be, in fact I hope I'm forced to as I really don't like the Nets.

    1. Also, mad respect for the Tony Parker pick. Not sure if it will work out for you but it certainly makes things much more interesting. A Dallas win puts you in a great spot. A Dallas loss will sting that much more though. Go Dallas! I'm cheering for you that this works out!

    2. The Parker pick was mostly due to circumstance of being down 1-2, not due to Mav fandom. I'd pick Dirk if Spurs lead series.

Sure don't want to pick Noah Tuesday?

    3. Yeah, I'm sure. Randolph has a history of showing up for Game 5. Plus everyone is picking Noah. Where's the fun in that? :P

    4. Haha!

Alright, good luck then. May Z Bo dominate. And lose.

  5. I've got Teague, Thompson, Howard in that order. Oh how our picking order has finally drifted! Looking forward to seeing how close we fare in the end.

  6. Ah, it´s that time already, for me to take one for the team.

My pick tonight is Dirk. I still fear the Spurs will win this game and eventually the series. OKC, Indiana, Toronto, even the Warriors, they all pulled out game 4. As good as that 2-1 looks for Dallas (lost game 1 which they shold have won, won game 3 which they should have lost), if they don´t go up 3-1 then all is for naught.

The only chance they have of winning is if Dirk finally starts scoring big. And if he does and they really win and may have a good chance of the biggest upset in Round 1 (I don´t see the Hawks completing their dream), then losing Dirk in my campaign is a price I am more than willing to pay. Go Mavs!

As for tomorrow, it´s Noah or a Grizzly. And while Noah is a fighter, he is the only Bull worth picking as I don´t have a crystal ball to tell me when Dunleavy or Gibson go off like that again. Could chose Boozer and hope for the impossible ;)
So it´s a matter of Z-Bo or Gasol. I will pick Randolph after that last weak game he should have a better one the next time out.
I don´t trust that Serling-Warriors series right now. I mean, Golden State is without Bogut, the Clips are on a roll, and then the owner does something utterly stupid that can cost his team the playoffs? Even Cuban was never THAT boneheaded.

      Go Dirk!

  8. Al Jeff won't play today so anyone who has him change your pick

  9. I'm going with Kemba today and with a warrior (Lee or Thompson) tomorrow.
I don't worry about picking in the Spurs/Mavericks or beting on Noah, because I think other players can produce a best PRA.
So, I agree on Parker if the serie goes 1-3 and I will look at Nets/Hawks is the serie goes 2-2.

  10. Im going with Teague, Noah and Howard. A Spurs win should buy me time to think as their Game 5 will be played on the same day as the Rockets/Trailblazers.

  11. I'm going with Paul George....
...... I see ATL winning this series.
Also I feel Dallas is going to pull their series out, and feel no urgency to pick any SAS players... They are not putting up high PRA's at all..
..... BTW I also felt no need to take a Bobcat this evening. Just wasn't feeling that any of them were going to put up big PRA's.. though I could be wrong.....
.....Another reason I went with Paul George.... Being greedy... Just simply want a good player to put up some pts for me tonight... lol
    ....
    Good luck everyone...

    2. good pick i should have stuck with him but them winning in atlanta swinged it for me to pick teague. atleast he's the only hawk i've picked.

fed up with that series, it's like no one wants to go through. they're not helping us at all, dttf unfriendly.

    3. Sometimes I question the madness of your picks, but this takes monster prediction skills to make. That paid off huge. And you can avoid Paul George in Game 6 and go elsewhere. Respect.

      Delete
    4. Thank you Stive.... Those unfriendly series, like SAS and DAL get me too.. I haven't taken players from either team...
      ......
Tangent LOL That madness is the only "tangent" that I can think of to try and make a run at it in this contest...
...... 'anyone' can pick a high percentage good player. It takes more than that to stay ahead though... You have to fine some kind of strategy to keep an edge...
.....But just like in Las Vegas....When you risk much you lose much...
.....Just like you I'm looking to take Zack Randolph tomorrow. I've used up my GS players betting early on the LAC... and I have NOOOOO interest in Noah at all..
...The problem is I'm a BIG OKC fan .... I came out good with Gasol getting me a 38pra and OKC winning.. Regardless if OKC wins or loses I feel Randolph will give us a 40+ in this game...
....Good luck and Thunder UP !

      Delete
    5. I do have to admit that I am a bit biased in 'knowing' my OKC will win this series.... spending my wad on the MEM players... like I said... risk much lose much... I'm going for it :)

  13. Dude I regret dissing your McRoberts pick. Big Al not playing helped. Would have been much better than using Parker in hindsight for you. And my Teague pick ended up being my WORST decision yet. Should have stuff with Ellis as I believe Mavs will lose, but hell, the Pacers...can they really be this BAD?!?! It makes no sense. I've picked their players in past DTF years way down the line and all put up solid numbers and the team was winning games. Practically the same team, but opposite result. So bizarre. I've got Paul George next game and seriously...Pacers need to win if anything so the Eastern Conf won't get plowed down by the Heat. If the Pacers find a way to get past the Hawks then I think they find their way in the Conf Finals giving the Heat problems all over the place. The NBA NEEDS THIS!!
