1st Seed VS 8th Seed

Wednesday's game is a little like Tuesday's. The Grizzlies are up 3-1 and are trying again to eliminate the Blazers. Meanwhile, the Nets and Hawks are even at two wins apiece.

Actually, today's is far from yesterday's situation.

If you want to apply yesterday's strategy, don't bother. First, the Hawks are still favored to win this series. Second, most of us already started picking Nets; it will be hard to turn tail and root for the Nets. Third, it's most likely you already used Aldridge and Lillard, and Batum's PRA may not be as good as a replacement now that Deron is already playing well.

Deron Williams has come out of his shell and is expected to take Game 5 seriously. He knows it is crucial. Coming off a 47 PRA, he is an enticing pick.

Brook Lopez is still the best Nets player in this series. He is dominating the paint (and Horford) and is the Nets' X-factor in this series. Pick him if you still have him.

Joe Johnson is the Nets go-to-guy. He needs to heat up before going at it, but he usually stuffs the 4th quarter stat sheet. He also loves to play against his former arena, and that is the reason he gets my pick.

Who among you are betting otherwise? Smelling an upset?

  1. Not smelling an upset at all, and I've used all my worthwhile blazers... DWill gets my pick in the hope he stays aggressive.

  2. Hi guys!!

Before speaking about tonight's pick I wanna say something about last night's game 5 between Spurs and Clippers. #neverbetagainstthespurs is the hashtag of the moment. What an amazing game and an amazing series!! I'm in love with basketball when i watch games likes that (I like girls too btw ahaha). Duncan is unbelievable, 39 years....Every game he is able to surprise me!!! Now, with the Clippers facing elimination, my DTTF plan could give me the right satisfactions. I played Griffin in game 4, and he picked up a great 46, now I'm gonna pick CP3 in game 6 hoping and thinking the Spurs will close it. And that's all, I will have all the players of the remaining 8 teams available, with no regrets for not having picked big players of the first round. Happy with it. What's your situation right now? Have you played at least one between CP3 and Blake or are u seriously risking to lose one of them?

As for tonight: I already picked all the Blazers, it's a tough decision between D-Will and JJ. Following my first plan, JJ would be the pick in the elimination game, but he still has to explode in this series (his max PRA is 31) and , as Taong said, he probably plays better in Atlanta, in front of his former fans. D-will is on fire, but he plays better at home and could be better to keep him for game 6. Furthermore, Atlanta defence will pay a lot of attention on him after the last performance. I'll have to think about it. What's your plan guys?

    Cheers!!

  3. I agree with everything except for Batum. You are right that he might not be that great, but I'm not convinced about Deron Williams. We've seen it so often in the playoffs that a player gets hot, scores a ton, and then doesn't repeat it. See Jarrett Jack. I think Williams is good, but he'll likely regress back to the 20-25 PRA guy he's been all season. One game is a very small sample size. I'll ride with the large sample size of 20=25 PRA. That makes Batum of equal value, with only one change - he's facing elimination. So for me, I like Batum a lot and want to pick him before he's gone. The only concern is a blowout, but Batum did well in Games 1 and 2 in similar blowout style, so he should at least be OK. Plus, who's to say that Brooklyn doesn't pull off the upset. I hope they don't, as a basketball fan who likes what the Hawks have done this season. I hope they do as a DTTF player, as that's a huge advantage for me!

Tomorrow's pick is clear for me. Chris Paul. He'll show up in an elimination game. Blake's 51 was very satisfying last night! It jumped me from 51st to 63rd percentile.

    1. U're right Tangent, having Batum available he's the best pick for you! I'm going with JJ tonight, I think he's the best choice for me. Deron will be my pick in game 6 at home.

    2. I'm not sure what's wrong with D-Will. 7PRA at half

    3. what does percentile mean?

    4. if you are leading, you are in 100 percentile.

if you are dead last, 0 percentile.

if you are ranked exactly middle, 50 percentile.

      and so on in betweens

  5. The Spurs stole another road game from the Clippers and are now just 1 home win away from advancing to the next round. Still surprised they lost Game #4 at home after absolutely destroying the Clippers in Game #3. Most likely this time they get the job done at home, as they already did the hard part and won on the road, twice.

Blake Griffin was the pick of the night from the losing Clippers with his monster 51 PRA effort. This will stand if the Spurs get the job done in the next game, and Blake doesn't go off for incredible amount of PRA in another game or somehow advance to Round #2, which I am not seeing at this point.

Both Monta Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki put up matching 36 PRA efforts in the losing cause vs. Houston, and have since been eliminated. Even Al-Farouq Aminu put up 25 PRA which was decent enough if you were short on players to pick.

It wasn't Monta Ellis' best effort in the playoffs (45 PRA), but it was still decent enough, especially with it being on the road, where he wasn't doing all that well in this series. So I will gladly take 36 PRA from Monta Ellis.

DeAndre Jordan (35 PRA) and Chris Paul (34 PRA) also had decent efforts from the Clippers game.

  6. Lost an entire post trying to do this on this stupid system. Not happy at all!

Quick Synopsis: Not taking any player from the Atlanta vs. Brooklyn game, series has at least 2 games to pick yet, no reason to have to pick from it now.

Portland is on the brink of elimination, and most likely doesn't go past tonight given their struggles playing in Memphis. With that in mind, I will choose a Portland player. Already used LaMarcus Aldridge for a lackluster (31 PRA). I can still choose between Damian Lillard and Nicolas Batum. Batum has been more consistent in this series, but Lillard has had the best game (41 PRA), however that was at home, and Lillard hasn't done nearly as well in the two Memphis home games. Nonetheless, I still like Damian Lillard tonight as my pick as he is my next best Portland player, and I don't see the Blazers getting out of Memphis without being eliminated. So going with Damian Lillard, hoping for a decent 35+ PRA effort out of him tonight.

  7. Nice big game from Griffen.

The Clippers lost but the officiating didn't help them, DJ the idiot didn't either what was he thinking ? Doc is a poor coach Boston big 3 made him look better than he is. Look at all the offseason moves they made they got rid of players and picks and gained nothing. Why is Hawes not getting games match up problem is bull the guy can be in there providing some offence the extra 7-10pts will be winning Clippers these games.

In the 3rd I think there was a 2min period where Spurs continually hacked DJ and Doc kept him in the game Spurs went on to gain a 5pt lead until he finally took him out. That is what lost them the game. If they hack DJ hack Duncan back or another player and do the same. CP3 also needs to be shooting 20 fga and not 14 they look better when he's taking more shots infact I think the 2 games they won he had 20 in both. I still think this goes 7 both teams for some reason play better when they actually desperately need to win but in the end Spurs efficiency will be what gets them through.

For today I can hold my JJ pick, I thought about Young but I still have Batum and I think today is actually probably the best day to use him. Also just in case Nets some how pull this off they're a good match up for the Hawks just like the Bucks are to the Bulls.

    1. Maybe Clips were banking that if DJ can make 1 of 2 FT, it's better than the normal 45% FG%, plus they get foul bonus later that quarter. I'm sure DJ is practicing his FTs and is looking forward to some payback in G6.

  8. Huh? I don't get it.

First of all, I just came home from my final game with the Royals this season. We lost the 3rd game in the best-of-5 series against the unbeaten champs, in their gym, and again we lost in overtime. Hats off the team but it's over now. The 7-hour-bus-ride back was no picknick, now it's about 6 a.m. over here and I am kind of tired.

But I still had to check last night's games. Could someone explain to me what happened between the box score and DTTF? According to the box score (and the play-by-play), Dirk had 22 P and 15 R for 37, Monta Ellis had 25 P + 3 R + 7 A for 35 PRA. I was happy as I thought I gained one whole point with my picks of Monta and Dirk (Dirk had 1 more when I picked Monta and 2 more when I picked him). So why is it Dirk and Monta both have 36 in DTTF now? What's up with that?

For tonight I have Lillard, I know the game is afoot right now, but I won't look now and go to bed instead. Lillard was the leading scorer at halftime, at least there is that.

While I am happy with the Dirk pick Blake Griffin would have been the pick of the night. 51 PRA, Clippers lost, pick Paul in g6 and you are golden. I haven't picked anybody from the series and am now not so sure who to pick for game 6. Griffin seems to be hot, but Paul in an elimination game sound enticing, too. I am leaning towards Paul. Any help?

    1. Last night they were listed on the boxscore at 36 each, so there must have been a stat correction well after the game. Perhaps DTTF will fix it, not sure their policy. I think there was a twitter account we contacted last year, so you can try that to get back your bonus PRA. Best of luck (although I'm sure Monta pickers will dislike losing their bonus PRA haha)

    2. A rebound was credited to the wrong guy, 36 PRA is the correct one.

Griffin all the way in G6. Spurs have been clamping on CP3 lately. They have not solved Griffin. Unstoppable.
