Sorry for the lack of updates, but life happens and also we've had nearly a week without a game. So let's do a special segment here where EVERYONE COMMENTS who they have winning the Finals and in how many games. For bonus points, throw in who you think will be Finals MVP. Curious to see if any of us nail it so make your official prediction in the comments on this post.
I'll go with Mavericks in 7 (with Luka as MVP), which would be completely epic. To be fair, I think Boston is all set up to finally win it, but the Mavs are showing that they're something special with the best scoring guard tandem we've likely ever seen. I know there are a lot of Mavs fans among us so feel free to join me in my prediction that they'll win!

ReplyDeleteKyrie and Luka have the will to win. And best closers in the league. It's the Celtics big chance to win it all. But, I'm going with Dallas in 6 with Kyrie as the MVP. It's nice to see him happy and healthy. Although, his choice of Kicks is a bit strange. Going with Brown first or second game. Saving Tatum for the last game.
ReplyDeleteSince the beginning of the Playoffs I have expected the Celtics to win this year. But at least I hope we will have a close series this time, not like the Conference Finals. My prediction is Boston in 7, with Tatum as MVP.
ReplyDeleteI will start picking Holiday, waiting for Porzingis to show if he is healthy enough to pick him next. I still have Tatum, Brown, White and Doncic for the next games

Everyone knows I'm a diehard Mavs fan.
But I've been following the Celtics too (as some of my mates are Celtics diehards).

We've waited a week for the finals to start and this is what we get? Another blowout! Feel bad for all of us who used Brown/Tatum tonight after saving them in the previous rounds! Looks like Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis were the sleepers. Otherwise a disaster result!

ReplyDeleteCeltics in G1 are faceguarding corner shooters and trusting their 1-on-1 defense.
Mavs can't do the same with KP hovering at the perimeter and Mavs needing their bigs near the basket on D. With the Celtics playing 5-man out, Mavs may funnel drivers into their bigs and trust that they can rotate fast enough to shooters.
Kyrie obviously is still bothered by the Celtics arena. He is 0-11 vs Celtics since leaving. Whether his reason for leaving is legit or not, Boston is that disgruntled girlfriend that will never forgive you. My suggestion, accept being the villain.
Boston fans are not jeering on Luka, learning from lessons of the last 3 rounds. And so Luka is not fired up as he used to be. He needs to pick just one courtside celebrity and decide he doesn't like his smug, and go off that :P
Stopping short on saying Luka intentionally intimidating the arena just to get their butts off Kyrie, but that now sounds desperate.
Enjoying the game has brought them up to this point. Need that.

No grand illusions from me -- Celtics still has this in the bag. Just glad not to be swept. Mavs needed just this one win to make it feel like a Finals experience that they can carry on to the next few years with this core.
