Injuries change the makeup of a team, and the series. And our picks.
The Raptors lost Game 3 and are facing elimination Sunday. I said I am going to pick Ibaka but he seems focused on stopping James and that does not translate to fantasy points. On the other hand, Valanciunas seems to be playing better this series and especially without the injured Lowry. Valanciunas for Sunday.
Monday, I originally had Johnson, but I have to accept that this is never his series. Without the injured Hill, Mack seems to be the better choice, and he gets my pick.
Of course, stay tuned for injury updates here in the comments and the NBA news on the right panel of this blog. If Lowry and Hill play, we surely are changing our picks, even if it's the last minute before tipoff.
Good luck!

I also have Valanciunas today. Easy choice, the only good player remaining from the only team I am sure that will not advance.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, unluckily for me, it's not Joe's series :-p
Players read this and get challenged. Good on you, Ibaka pickers. Meh Val
DeleteI learned my lesson to never pick a center facing an elimination game.
DeleteNumbers told a lie haha
DeleteWell, what do we have now? Two series with a 3-0, the first is already over, the second is probably about to be done tonight.
ReplyDeleteThe we have two series tied up after four games. That´s where it´s going to get tricky. Maybe I can help you be telling you who to avoid :)
Boston - Washington. The Celtics were on a roll after that 0-2 start against Chicago. Then they needed OT to win g2 against the Wizards and got beaten pretty hard in the following two games. It seems like the Wizards are on the verge of taking this one.
I on the other hand still believe the Celtics are going to win g5 at home, however difficult it going to turn out to be. Then they will do what every team up 3-2 in a hardfought series seems to be doing. So I will pick a Wizard. It´s time to dust of my old idea of Otto Porter jr.
Now that other series is a real stumper. The Spurs got thrashed twice, they lost Tony Parker, and stey still have homecourt in a best-of-3. They can still win this.
James Harden on the other hand can have a game where he hits 3 of 17 (or whatever it was he did in g3), and then a 30-8-17 if he wants to. I don´t know what to make of this series.
That´s why I pick from both teams. In one game it will be Aldridge, in the other it will be Capela. Let´s see how that´s going to work out.
As for HOU-SA series Nene will miss rest of the playoffs due to injury. Now the Rockets will play small and I don't think you can win just shooting from the perimeter. The Spurs will look to attack the basket more often w/ Gasol and Aldridge. Spurs should have the advantage since you can play inside and out. I will either Ariza or Gordon.
DeleteAs for the WAS-BOS series, you know how awful Boston playoff record is. The Wizards just cannot sustain the lead in both games on the road. I already pick Gortat and Beal so I might just pick a Celtic either Bradley or Crowder.
As for tonight, I really think George Hill should just sit this one out since the series is about over. My pick goes to Mack if Hill is sideline.
Tonight will be an interesting pick for me. I've got George Hill if he plays, and the Mack Attack if he doesn't. If Hill plays, it will be risky, but all my remaining Jazz options would be anyways, so why not go Hill.
ReplyDeleteHill is out yet again!
DeleteRotoworld: George Hill (toe) won't play in Game 4 vs. the Warriors on Monday according to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Mack attack for me then!
ReplyDeleteI only had Hill from the Jazz as good option. As he is out again, I will also go with Mack. After some bad picks I was considering picking different (as I thought with Joseph and I didn't dare to do), and pick Hood. But I don't really trust him. So get ready for Hood's career game
ReplyDelete3 fouls in 1st quarter...good night xD
DeleteNot so fast, here comes the Mack Attack in the second half!
DeleteDid Mack get 23 or 25? The stats say 18 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists but are those right or did the nba websites make a mistake?
DeleteHe got 25. I entered the stats at the start of garbage time, because I thought all the starters were out. Didn't notice that Mack was subbed back in and scored during garbage time. Caught the error later though.
DeleteI just wrote this to avoid Joseph part2...I am sorry for Hood's pickers xD
DeleteIt was too late to watch 2nd half, but I am considering not watching any more games if my player scores 15 a half...
Well that's it today May 8 was the start of 1 game days from here on out. Games 5,6 and 7 (if needed) of the remaining two 2nd round series are on 6 different days.
ReplyDeleteSo, only one game and series tied. Interesting for our next picks. Or I should say for game5. 6 and 7 will be more obvious picks depending on which team loses 5th. Today, Spurs-Rockets. I always had the Spurs slightly favourite. And they still have home court, so I will pick a Rocket. Just in case, they advance, I think the player that would have a worst matchup against the Rockets is Ryan Anderson, as the Warriors "bigs" defend better the perimeter than Spurs bigs. So I am going with him tonight. Even if he starts on the bench, I hope he will still play enough minutes as backup center and at the four. Let it rain from deep!
ReplyDeleteagainst the Warriors, I meant *
