What Should The Thunder Do?

We have two days off from the NBA Playoffs and I am sure Coach Brooks and his staff are cooking up a NEW strategy because what they did in Games 1 and 2 in lieu of Serge Ibaka's absence has NOT worked. Starting Nick Collison has not worked. Thabo Sefolosha has not worked. That starting five has not worked. Trying to match Spur's size has not worked. Where was the small ball that worked some in Game 1? I didn't see a lot of that in Game 2. And the Thunder was practically in half-court game most of the time, giving too much time for the Spurs to set up their defense.

What should the Thunder do to get back in this series?

I am sure someone in the Thunder organisation is playing DTTF and may happen to read this blog. They need all the help they can get. So let's hear it in the comments.

  2. New starting lineup should be Perkins, Adams, Durant, Jackson and Westbrook.

    1. Or Adams, Durant, Butler, Jackson and Westbrook.

  3. Jackson looks good when he gets the ball. All too infrequent when Russell runs the point. They need to get some offence going... Jackson at PG, Russell at SG, Durant at the 3, Adams and Perk. Some of the stuff Westbrook was throwing up was filth!

  4. Jackson and Steve seems to be what some people want inserted into the lineup. The problem is their bench. If they are going to do this, they would have to play the starters big minutes, with at least three starters on the floor at any time, and either or both KD and RW on the floor always. We just can't afford to wait for Sefolosha and Collison to snap out if their funk anymore.

  5. I don´t know what the Thunder can do, but as long as they play 2 against 5 they may win a game or two but not the series. There is a reason Stockton and Malone were always great in the regular season but were always stopped in the postseason. You can´t win with just two great players, not unless one of them is Michael Jordan.

After the loss of Ibaka they are missing option number 3. Reggie Jackson can help win a game (we saw that against Memphis) but not a series. At least not this one.

  6. One thing they changed in G2 is how they defend the pick n roll. In G1, they went after the ballhandler eg Parker. That caused Duncan to have his best outing. So in G2 they went after the picker but it gave Parker the lane. And when the help defender came, Parker made the assist.

I think they should get back to how they did it in G1 and let Duncan beat them. Coz if Parker gets in the lane, he can get everybody else involved.

Let them watch how Mavs defended the Spurs pick n roll. Just don't watch G7 :P

And then OKC just need to work their bleep off and, as imawake always say, Thunder up!

  7. I'm thinking I will be going with Chris Anderson Saturday night....?!?
.....I'm not ready to burn my IND players(Hibbert, West and Stephenson)
...........They might still win the series...
I was thinking of going with Bosh, but I'm not really ready to burn him, LBJ or Wade yet either. They might win it..
.....I'm going to go at least ONE more game into the series to get a better feel for it and will be going COLD...(didn't see that coming huh?)
    .............
As for the SAS-OK series...I might have to go with one more SAS player to give my Thunder a chance to dig themselves out...
......I love that SAS is so deep that you can do this lol
    ....
    SPOILER ALERT
    ..........................."Thunder UP"
    ....
will be our fearless leaders BLOG headline after Sunday nights game

  9. I have gone with all scrubs this entire conference finals.. Spilter, chalmers, jackson, and prob going to pick another role/bench player for the next game

I figure if i use all the scrubs now, save my best players for the later part of the CF, and then go balls out for the finals, I should be able to make up some lost ground

    2. I feel like too many people are saving too many players for the NBA Finals. I would now expect a Spurs vs. Heat finals, and just because last year went 7 does not mean this year will. The Spurs have been very good at exposing the flaws in teams - and the Heat have flaws ready to be exposed (namely shut down LeBron and Wade, and shut down the Heat). I expect I'll have Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Chris Bosh and hopefully LeBron James for the finals, and then I can pick guys like Mario Chalmers, Boris Diaw, Danny Green. Notice that Ray Allen and Tiago Splitter are missing? They will likely be picked this round. It would be unwise to leave six or seven of the best for the finals. Five should do the trick, and only 4 are necessary.

  10. I will have Bosh, Wade, James, Duncan, Leonard, if Spurs meet the heat in the final. If it goes 6 or 7, I will go with chalmers, danny green or ray allen, who ever is available, I am not sure yet who will be, because I might use some of the last three in the conference finals.
