Round One: More Like Eight Rounds Of Boxing

We are now in the midst of Round 1, and soon the schedule will change with each date featuring 1 or 2 matches instead of the usual 3 or 4. It is important to look ahead and make sure that on average case scenarios, you still have someone to pick on a future date. Also, make sure you will not be forced to pick between two or more good players and possibly lose the chance to pick one of them.

Monday's game features 3 matches: Heat@Bobcats Game 4, Hawks@Pacers Game 5, and Spurs@Mavs Game 4.

If you still have either Al Jefferson or Kemba Walker, make the pick already because the Heat will be looking to sweep so that they can rest some of their old knees already. Game 3 showed that while his injury bothers him, Al can still produce in the high 20s. Moreso now that they are facing elimination. Alas I already picked both players.

The Pacers won Game 4 over the Hawks, and that series just became weirder. Since this is Game 5, it is imperative that you should have picked at least one player from the team you think will lose this series. If not, then you have to pick one now because Game 6 will be held on the same date with three other matches, which by then you will be hard-pressed to pick a certain player and discard the others. For myself I already picked 2 Hawks and 1 Pacer, so I can afford to wait a while longer (and for the reason that I am now perplexed about this series and honestly cannot predict already who will survive).

Even though the Mavs are now up 2-1 versus the Spurs, I do not feel that that is so. The Spurs are so good this year that I feel the Mavs are the ones down 1-2. Really! I feel the Mavs should treat Game 4 like they will be forced on the edge of elimination if they lose that game. Who here will bet for the Mavs in a best-of-three series against the Spurs with two games in San Antonio? Just as I thought, none! (Okay, Mavs fans you are not counted.)

So... No Bobcats left. No Hawks left, too. And undecided on the Pacers at this point in time. And as a Mavs fan, you know I can't pick a Mav while they are up 2-1. And I can't get myself to pick a Spur. So tentatively, I pick the player whose forearm got attacked by LeBron's throat...

Someone please give me a good reason to pick a Spur.

    1. Nah he's just a placeholder. Still undecided on Spurs, Pacers.

  2. he should pick a mav, McRoberts is a waste of a pick

picking a mav doesn't really hurt you can go without a couple players into the next round

    1. I agree, I say you go with Dirk or Ellis. The Spurs will keep the series competitive and still likely to win it IMO

  3. Should I pick Al Jefferson on this day? I feel like it is risky because if the Heat are winning by 20+ he won't play the entire fourth quarter like last game.

    1. IMHO if u still have Al available there is no reason not to pick him..even with the foot problem he can guarantee at least 25 PRA, and u can save players from IND ATL and SPURS MAVS.. pick him mate

    2. i wouldn't bother that could be a blow out as soon as it starts, if it was last yrs heat then yes but this yrs looks like they want to end all the series as quick as they can, they don't want extra games. Bobcats are 3-0 down and 1 day shorter rest for Al Jeff. It's pointless really if he's going to only produce 20pra go for someone else. If Bobcats want to risk Al Jeff career then fine but he's their main guy they're 3-0 down and have no chance to get through, why risk more damage and tears just for 1 win.

    3. Jo Mama, I reckon Al can get 3 rebounds and 6 points per quarter before he sits out the fourth quarter, right? That's still a respectable PRA of high 20s

    4. Hmm, thinking about Jefferson he's a game time decision. If Jefferson doesn't play I will definitely go Millsap.

  4. bulls aren't going through not surprising when they needed a Nene ejection and Dunleavy scoring 35 just to win a game that won't happen again

Curry for me today get in before he gets injured and its a must win game. my other option was Lowry but still think its too soon for that series having used DeRozan.

As for this day I'm going for my first Hawk. My pick will be Teague in a bounce back game.

  5. You could've picked Korver or Carroll but went with McBob instead. As I have read your replies, I know its just a placeholder but I think Korver will be a better pick man.

As for me, with the Thunder winning yesterday, I removed my Curry pick and replaced it with Kyle Lowry. So far he is hot from the field as he is whipping Brooklyn's behind. DeRozan is hot as well and we might go to Game 6 in this one. For tomorrow, I am definitely going with a Hawk as I know that the Pacers will still win this series (I am sounding like a broken record)

    1. Lowry seen icing his knee, add the fact that he is in foul trouble in this first half. Bad sign for things to come. Looking like a must win for the Raps (and they are responding soundly). but I hope they lose. DeRozan hitting shots with literally a hand on his face

    2. Thanks THCH, Korver is in my radar.

    3. Korver and Carroll are about as useful as McBobby. At least with McBobby there is only a 0.000001% chance he makes the next round.

  6. Wow...he went cold in the second half....
