For Day 5's games, the best bet will be to take a Bobcat. Usually I avoid picking from the same team in consecutive games early in Round 1 to avoid running out of picks from a series (or piling up too much on the others). Looking on future Bobcats game dates, they seem to be packed with other options. Maybe a Hawk on Saturday and a Mav on Monday. Okay, a Bobcat again then.

Al Jefferson. For those who haven't picked him yet, pick him this date. He got a double-double in Game 1, and he will continue to dominate the paint against the Heat's not-so-bigs. He is still the Bobcats most consistent player.

Kemba Walker. He got 20 points in Game 1, and it's not far out to expect the same in Game 2. He is the future of Hornets basketball, and he has to show Jordan he can carry this team these playoffs. He gets my pick.

Dirk Nowitzki. That W is pronounced as a V, by the way. He got good looks in Game 1; the shots weren't just falling as they should be. Of all those who need to bounce back, he is the one most likely to do so. Not picking him yet, as I prefer the  V if Dirk gets the W. Just saying :)

I will not recommend Monta Ellis on this date. It seems that the Spurs are making sure they deny him the drive and make him shoot. Maybe, you can wait until he gets some home cooking.

As for the Blazers-Rockets game, I think it took Aldridge's big game just to be able to scratch a win. The Rockets will make sure that doesn't happen again by scraping a few good looks from him.

If the Blazers win again (if!), then it's James Harden next in line.

  1. Amazing his all the series that have played two games are tied 1-1. However I do expect the Spurs and Heat to sweep. Now here's why I'm also taking Kemba. Al Jefferson had a strained plantar fascia and is a gametime decision. Whether he plays or not, Kemba will easily get 20 shots up.

    1. Ah right, thanks for the injury alert, Luminosity. More stats for Kemba then.

    2. Jefferson is definitely going to play. No game time decision. That's just a formality.

    3. Don't forget about Chalmers injury. I hope Big Al plays in game 2. If he doesn't, Kamba will draw a lot of attention. Hopefully the MVP will not be guarding him, lol!

  2. LA will definitely get doubled more often this game. McHale is going to have to learn from his mistake. That should open up the outside for the Blazers shooters. I'm thinking Batum, Matthews, or Lillard at this point. I'm saving Jefferson for game 3 or 4.

    1. Picking a Blazer still? They're up 1-0

    2. This series is a toss up and likely to go 7 games. I don't want to leave players on the table. One team isn't moving onto the second round.

  3. Finally I pick different than you. I've got Dirk with the bounce back. Taking Kemba back in Charlotte.

    1. Gonna take Dirk when Spurs win 2. Don't listen to me, Dirk fan here.

    2. A reason not to pick Kemba today, IMO, is the potential of a blow-out. Big Al is not 100%, the Heat are at home, Wade is healthy & Lebron has the potential at any time to simply destroy the Bobcats. Could be a sit your starters 4th quarter and rest in order to save their energy for back in Charlotte where they at least stand a small chance of winning a game

    3. Damn, Dirk really did let me down and in a win nonetheless. Pretty shocking, but you called it! Only 5 less than Kemba, but now I really do feel like Dirk will have a 30+ NEXT game. Damn.

  4. As happy as I am with my first big gamble yesterday, I think Kemba is the obvious play here. With a not-100% Jefferson still in to draw attention, I'm expecting Kemba to get a lot of looks and hopefully stuff the stat-sheet.

I want to see one more game before I pick out of Portland-Houston and at this point I think Kemba is higher up on my priority list than Dirk or Monta. Plus, Charlotte is the one team here that I'm confident will not advance.

  5. John Wall up 2-0. Guess it's Noah come Friday.

  6. I had John Wall tonight for a 29pra (my lowest so far)
.... Hmmm... Might to with Josh McRoberts(0%) tomorrow night. Is that cold enough for you? lol

  7. This game, with three relatively safe picks available in Dirk, Kemba and Monta, I've decided to take a legitimate risk and have some fun hunting for glory. It's something I haven't done in the first round since 2009 when I was so confident that Dallas would beat San Antonio after just one game that I picked Tony Parker, who proceeded to score 50 PRA. And when everybody else waited I got Tim Duncan in Game 5 when everyone else was forced to scramble pick Tony Parker. My pick is James Harden. I'm calling my shot - Houston will win Game 2, but Portland wins all their games in Portland and the series goes 3-1 back to Houston. And James Harden has a HUGE game in Game 2. We'll see how it all plays out. If Houston goes on to win the series, advantage everyone else. If Portland gets a 3-1 lead, advantage me. This should be fun. Also, I've locked in Millsap, Noah and Nowitzki for my next three days. This means I will have picked one player from each of the 8 series so far. Hopefully those 8 teams all proceed to lose! I like Kemba in Game 4, so today is all about earning things the Harden way!

    1. Well good luck Tangent. Aldridge's Game 1 was inspiring. Rockets may be in trouble.

  8. Oh boy! Thursday pick is even tougher to pick. All 3 games are tied at 1-1. Only wished if OKC had won G2, then I would be picking another Memphis player. Looks like we have to start picking from the Clippers-Warriors game.

    1. Steph Curry. Warriors are not going to win that series man. Clippers have a championship coach and 2 superstars. They just won by 40. Even if the Warriors win tomorrow, they'll lose the series.

  10. First round is always day to day... So, no estrategy for today; just instint... My pick is Monta Ellis.

    1. Spurs main strategy is to stop Monta's drive because it creates opportunities for the shooters or for himself. As great as Nowitzki is, Monta is the engine. And Spurs know that. Pick Dirk if you must pick a Mav.

  11. Few hours away....still can't decide between Big Al and Kemba. I don't wanna risk Al missing parts of the game - but will he only get worse as the playoffs go on?

    1. Exactly why I'm glad to have already picked him. I see the appeal of Kemba in this game, but also Big Al may get worse before he gets better & Kemba has my pick back in Charlotte where they at least stand a chance to keep the game close behind their home crowd.

    2. Halftime. Al and Kemba 5 of 17. No blowout pls!
